It's "should be illegal day"! Two-handed back hands should be illegal. What a freakingly ugly shot.

Right, and it's the same type of message that was written for 18 months about Federer and Nadal. I realize Novak isn't those guys in terms of mental fortitude and unequivocal dedication but as someone who's "only" 31, without a long history of injuries, and amazing consistency and success over the years, I honestly believe he'll be back at some point. He's not going to just be irrelevant. Maybe he doesn't go back to dominating like Fedal, but he'll win another major.

Tiger has not won a major since 16th June 2008. About 10 years have elapsed now.

You know the similarity between them; both meditate in Buddhist temples. :p

Watching the matches replays I have to say Edmund has played very well and his forehand has worked excellent
And Monfils is a great showman and very good player who can do great shots, not doubts about it, but not enough to take a set to Nadal

Djokovic's comeback has been shocking. It's a testament to how good and dominant he was that he's still the only player I sort of worry about if Nadal were to play him on clay (but only because I'm a paranoid super-fan), but right now he's not getting to Nadal to begin with. This is awful.
I agree that we Nadal fans still fear him, if he could pull himself back to full form. But this is indeed shocking. Annacone keeps trying to say on TC that the tennis is there, he just needs to find the confidence. The general consensus seems to be that it's mostly mental, and maybe some in his serve and elbow. I think we've all agreed with the theory is it's more mental than physical. That seems to be bearing out.

This same type of message has probably been written by a dozen posters for close to 18 months now. The longer this goes on the more likely he is done. He hasn't had a noticeable pulse since the 2016 YEC...that's a long time

Yep, the longer it goes on... the odds keep on dropping further.

I'm thinking it's not going to happen. Like Busted said, he seems content... almost like he feels the need to come back for others rather than himself and going through the motions. Still, one really good tournament could turn him around, who knows...

We're all wondering what goes on with Djokovic. It's starting to be less 50/50 than it was, if he's coming back, but we all still have one foot waiting for it to turn around. What a mystery, though.

I’m more concerned about Murray, he won’t play in the grass season either because he still doesn’t feel well. The hip is very delicate and I’m afraid it’s going to take too much time to recovery and then it would be too late but I hope to be wrong
And about Novak I also think it’s a mistery all around him starting when he fired his all team, hiring two former good tennis players, his minor surgical procedure and at the end coming back with his former coach Vajda. I don’t believe in his ‘lack of motivation’ but I do believe in all the effort he had to do to get all those achievements in the 2011 and 2015 which have made him to finish completely physical and mentally burnt out

You're fighting a losing battle, mate. And are we still arguing that tennis is supposed to be some pretty picture? It's a sport. The object is to win. Ask Darth.

i believe what Novak needs is to have Roger on the other side of the net. I think his ole Serbian coach V could come up with a plan to raise his game vs Fed.

I'm concerned for Andy Murray too. I hope he feels better soon. I'm a patriotic Brit but realise I'm being more optimistic than realistic when I say I like British winners because we don't get them very often & I especially like British wins on home soil. British wins abroad are good but I don't really care so much but it would be good if we could get more British wins at Wimbledon. Edmund is doing very well though so maybe we'll have a chance there. Good luck to him! All I can do is hope, though. I've been told about saying irrelevant stuff not related to the thread topic so I guess I'd best say I would like Edmund to win the Madrid Open but if he doesn't I'd either like a Spaniard to win on their home soil or the best player as in the 1 that played the best game on the day & slogged their guts out to get the result they wanted.

(I love when people take me seriously)

I would definitely not fight this battle. I love the little arrogance that we, one handed back hand people, are able to display on court.

Shapo wins the Canadian battle. Good for him. I think his game can work great on clay. He has a lot of topspin on both sides which will always help on clay. He likes those big swings where clay is ideal for...He just has to figure out the footing and the sliding part.

I read comments of people thinking he is playing good enough that it is not impossible that he may beat Delpo.
And you were right. He took down Delpo. This might very well be his best week on tour.
