Who would have thought that Nadal and Djokovic have a 0 combined M1000 titles in 2022 and Carlos Alcaraz (a teenager) has 2 M1000 titles in 2022 already?

With this win, Alcaraz trails Nadal by only 70 points in the ATP Race for Turin.

Don't you know that Alcaraz is the changing of the guard in tennis, Moxie? (being sarcastic here)

I will not be surprised if one of them says, "Alcaraz is the favorite alongside with Nadal at 2022 RG!"

I think some of them have Alcaraz already winning RG for 2022....might as well give him the trophy now and get it over and done with....:) with that I am having a sleep I had to get up at 2am to watch this match

It's too early,RG is a different animal with the weather scheduling and five sets.I want Rafa to get to 22 before Jojo and Roger.

It didn't take long for Courier to go off the deep end! He's already awarding double digit majors to Carlos! Andy has him co-fave to win FO! Goofs! ;-)

I don’t think it is ever too early. He certainly is playing without fear and if there is anyone who can weather 5 sets is a 19 year old making the most of his form.

You mean before Jojo (Novak). Stick a fork in Roger.

Of all the impressive things about this kid are these facts:

1) He’s beaten the top 3 seeds at a Masters (Madrid) back to back to back on consecutive days, who was the last player to do that?

2)Alcaraz also has beaten top 10 players in 8 consecutive matches. Again as a 19 year old that is insane. No mental letdown, whereas most teenagers get an upset win and lay down like a log in the next round.

3) 2 Masters on 2 different surfaces and 2 500’s on red clay in the first half of the year.

I think people need to calm down as to his being a co-favorite along with Rafa and Novak. TBH, after his torrid run at the 2005 claycourt season I gave Rafa co favorite status with Roger back in 05.

Now being considered a favorite means to me having the best chances of winning, which is arguably where Alcaraz is at. Personally I still think a healthy Rafa has the absolute best chance to win RG, but Alcaraz hoisting the trophy would not be a shocker to many tennis observers. Of course he’s a favorite. Granted, The pressure on him is enormous, but the good and bad news is he’s only just turned 19 years old. You have to go back to Rafa to have a legitimate teenager contender who has a more than solid chance to hoist a Major trophy

I think journalists and tennis fans would stop comparing Alcaraz to Rafa.or calling him Baby Rafa..I love Alcaraz and his game dont get me wrong, though at just shy of turning 20 Rafa had achieved 16 titles,
1 GS title
5 M1000
5 ATP 500
So we all need to just need to admire Alcaraz as Alcaraz.
