Sinner QF Post-Match - d. Jodar

Leo AI Summary

Jannik Sinner's post-match interview after defeating Rafael Jodar in the quarter-finals:

  • First Meeting & Respect:Sinner highlighted that this was his first time playing against Jodar. He expressed immense respect for the young Spaniard, calling him an "incredible player" and noting that he pushed him to the limit
  • The Match Dynamic: He described it as a "very high quality match" where he had to save seven break points. While he felt he got "lucky" in the second set, he also credited his experience in crucial moments as a deciding factor
  • Future Expectations: Sinner noted that while this was their first meeting, they would likely face each other again in the future, so both players now know what to expect from one another
  • Achievement Milestone: He expressed great happiness about reaching the semi-finals, noting that this was his first time in the semis at this specific tournament (Madrid), which meant a lot to him
  • Completing the Set: When asked about completing the set of reaching semi-finals at all nine Masters 1000 events, Sinner acknowledged that reaching the semis in every tournament is tough, but he was happy to improve on every surface and condition
  • Praise for Jodar: Sinner specifically wrote "What a player" on the camera for Jodar after the match, praising the 19-year-old's talent and predicting he will be a regular on the biggest stages
  • Conditions: He mentioned the unique conditions of the Madrid Open (likely referring to the altitude and clay) and how he tried to adapt, noting that Jodar is very used to these conditions as a local

Zverev v Cobolli
Cobolli won the toss and will receive
Cobolli Forza!

Cobolli with DFs and hands Zverev the break early, the serve is an area Cobolli has to really address, at times it is just 'hit and miss'
A double break now for Zverev, Cobolli is as 'flat as a tack' apart from his serve his range of shots have gone AWOL, he is a much better player than he is showing now, Cobolli defeated Zverev last week in Munich
Unless Cobolli change things fast this match will be over in less than 1 hour
Zverev 1st set 61 more like a practice session for him
Cobolli competed better in the 2nd set, gee he had too after a poor showing in the 1st set, he had 2 BPs when Zverev was serving for the match at 5-4 but could not convert
Zverev d Cobolli 61 64

Sinner seals a break by winning the longest rally of the match - 24 strokes with a bhand winner down the line and he will serve for his spot in the final leading Fils 62 54

Zed is like that old boyfriend or girlfriend that you deal with until your dream person come into your life.. One thing I can say he does compete but he just has been unlucky!

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Zverev tanks so he doesn't have to get beat down by Jannik again.

Nah it looks like Zed is on a mission won the 1st set 62, over Blockx. I am just SB this match btw
Zverev d Blockx 62 75, Zverev did have the trainer out, late in the 2nd set he has been complaining of a bad back in his last couple of matches
