It is not Christmas time for No1e.

That's right. Buddhists don't celebrate Christmas...

Usually you are better than this:huh:

I know, don't feed the trolls, but it was standing up there, on top of the net, looking to be smacked away... ;)

And like Novak, that easy overhead of a setup managed to get botched;)

I hope everyone had a good holiday.

Nope, it clipped the line and shot away for a winner - and I didn't even touch the net. ;)

Buddhists don't celebrate Christmas, or have I missed some recent news..?

No, you missed the news where meditating with Buddhists doesn't suddenly make him a Buddhist. I'd say the Orthodox cross he wears every match would show that.

You might have missed the bit where Christians don't take part in pagan meditations. But this is modern celebrity, they want it both coming and going...

Ahh yes, religious tolerance at its finest. Djokovic is no longer a true Christian is your point?

Religious tolerance? What's that? What does it mean? How does it work? That everything goes in Christianity, under the umbrella of "tolerance"? Even contradictions and incongruities?

What's tolerance got to do with it? I'm not sure I'm getting you, buddy.

As for Novak, I like the guy but his wearing the cross isn't a sign of anything either. You ever see a footballer kiss the badge after scoring a goal, to show how much he loves the club he recently tried to leave?

There is nothing to get. There are a lot worse things a Christian can do than meditating with some Buddhists. Somehow that is more telling in regards to his religious beliefs than wearing a cross everywhere he goes. In my experience someone who is wearing a cross around their neck everywhere is not doing it for show. I know one personally, and she dragged me to Church every Sunday until I was 18. I don't think Novak is getting more endorsements or attention by wearing a cross and sometimes crossing himself during matches.

Darth, religious indifferentism is not considered a small thing among either the orthodox or Catholics.
Now, in fairness to Nole, I see him as an easy-going, ecumenical nice guy who gets on with everybody and doesn't think too deeply on these things. It's his business, though of course he lets us know about it, so we can draw conclusions.

Here's Novak's dog earning a few crafty quid on the side.

You love the dog, dontcha! :p

Going back on point here, how did the players look? Rusty? Sharp? Does anyone see this as good prep for Oz? Maybe it's the best because it re-awakens the competitive urges, albeit in an exo tourney.

What's Novak's rationale for skipping the rest of the events before Oz? I know he always does it, but has he explained why? He does the same before Wimbledon. Has he some particular training regime he prefers?

I know he lost today but Tsonga's serving was very good in set 1 till he served up an ill-timed DF and threw the set away at 5-5 in the TB. I stopped watching after that. Novak looked ok, some good play, some slop. Took quite a while closing out the final today. Can't read much into any of it really and the events next week will likely tell a whole lot more.

Good to see Tsonga back in the mix, I hope this bodes well for Oz, even though he lost two matches...

Do not fix it if ain't broken, that would be his rationale IMO, Conserving energy is not a bad idea, because he will need to be well rested comes Melbourne. Remember he has had some awfully long matches there, 2 years ago.
On another note, he does not need to get in form, he looks generally fine, he has not lost one match since September. He had now 2 matches, he will have 2 more weeks to fix those things which did not work as well as they should here.

Becker-connection works fine by now. Novak said he will try some new shots, I saw more net game and quite some amazing bomb-shots. Bull was performing fine, he didn't won Nadal by mistake.

One problem with your premise is that meditation is inherently religious. I meditate and am not religious. I would meditate with buddhists and it would tell nothing of my beliefs about god. Non-transcendental meditation is much more about clearing your find, than anything else. His meditation practice shouldn't be in conflict with christianity. Meditating is not praying, and I never knew it was against christianity to associate with people of other religions or to sit quietly with him or wax philosophy with them. Based on serve to win, I would guess he is quite conscious of his beliefs and does think deeply about them.

No, not all meditation is religious, but in the Christian tradition, we don't go to Buddhist temples and meditate, since it's considered a spiritually dangerous thing, while also being an example of indifferentism. If Novak seeks peace, he can find it in his church. If it's natural breathing and relaxation then he doesn't need to enter the temple.

It's not against Christian beliefs to meet people of other faiths and sit quietly or wax philosophical, and obviously, there are meetings in the community and we can't - and shouldn't - avoid our friends in other faiths, but that's not the same thing. Nor are multi-religious gatherings, where there's no attempt to make things relative or pretend we're doing the same thing, but for the sake of peace we gather.

Bear in mind that I steered the conversation back on topic a few posts ago...

:Lolz: It's great, isn't it! :laydownlaughing

What I love is the expression on the dogs face, so cool, just staring.

By the way, it wasn't my intention to offend any Buddhists or provoke non-Christians, I'm only saying what I know from the church. There are other Christians on the forum and people of other faiths and none. We're united here by a love of tennis and a desire to chat about the players.

Vamos! :)
