Wow! Dude didn’t get paid! Fascinating story

I have to say, the idea behind Highlander was great but I much preferred the TV series to the movies. Adrian Paul was excellent as Duncan Macleod, it had some great guests and villains, and though I can’t remember how it ended, I always felt it was among the best sci fi or fantasy series of its day, alongside maybe Star Trek The Next Generation…

I thought I was the only one! I have the boxset. Adrian Paul was perfect as the Highlander. Even if his Scottish accent was a bit dodgy :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Yeah, Dunkin Mahcloood o’ de clann Mahclooood :lulz1:

I have the box set too! Really great idea, with legendary back stories and characters like Methos, I think he was several thousand years old. Some shady Watchers. The sanctuary on holy ground. Always kind of funny that no matter what clothes they wore, they’d get the tingle another was near and somehow they’d whip a great ancient sword from under their coat and get ready to tussle.

Fantastic series!

We're wanting to get the latest Bruce Springsteen film but we're undecided on whether to buy it now or after our holiday. We're going on the 20th.

the episode where Methos joins up with his old gang is one of the best ones. I also like the one where he went back home and killed the Viking immortal. Damn it! I might have to get the old boxset out again! :D

Yeah I’m thinking the same! I loved all those historical back stories at the start of an episode. I vaguely remember great episodes that really affected me, like a 500 year old immortal who was now a priest who was hunted down and killed, Armand, I think, and Duncan avenged his death. They were kind of like gunslingers really, weren’t they, riding into town hunting the local quick draw and fighting a duel.

It’s definitely a show that could be brought back and be still great. I see the original film is being remade, with Henry Cavill as “Macleod” and Dave Bautista and Russell Crowe attached. Might be good. But Gregory Widen, the original creator of the whole thing, mentioned in the video above, is only mentioned as executive producer, but not creator.

yes I heard the same. I'll watch it, but I honestly dislike remakes in most cases. Like.. Total Recall. Why the hell did that need to be remade?? Show the absolute dearth of true creativity in Hollywood today. I wonder if they'll still use the music from Queen. Won't be the same without it

Did you ever watch the TV version of the Shining? I think Stephen King sponsored it because he wasn't too happy with Kubrick's movie.I didn't think it was anywhere close to the movie.

Yeah, from the trivia section on IMDb:

Director Chad Stahelski confirmed the movie would be using Queen's soundtrack from Highlander (1986), but in a different way.

I don’t know this director but just discovered he directed all the John Wick films. I don’t know them either but I know they’re highly rated.
I didn't even know a TV version of Highlander existed. I loved the film so will have to check it out.
Yeah I think you’d like it. It’s a nineties show with synth soundtracks and a particular way with effects etc, but the story is really good. Guest stars Christopher Lambert in the opening episode, him being also of the Clan Macleod.

Yeah I don’t know why he didn’t like the Kubrick version but he’s not even neutral about it, he’s hostile!

I went to see the Hail Mary yesterday, and yes it needs to be watched on a big screen, the cinematography in the film is 'breath taking'
Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, a teacher turned astronaut on a desperate one way mission to save earth. It is based on science fiction novel by Andy Weir. Waking up from a come with amnesia, Grace remembers he must stop a microorganism from causing a new Ice Age, he befriends an alien engineer Rocky. The movie releases waves of warmth, camaraderie, emotion, humour and intelligence that are both irresistible and intriguing.
I really enjoyed the film

To Kill a Mockingbird - 60th anniversary dvd edition, i was able to find it by chance at my local library and watched it over Easter.

A longtime favorite that i re-visit from time to time. Gregory Peck was certainly a consummate professional, not just acting but producer and director, starring in various drama, comedy and even horror over 60 years career.

Now the two dvd package comes with various bonus features including "A Conversation with Gregory Peck" filmed during a 1999 tour across the US. This 97- minute production was produced by his daughter, Cecilia, also a actor/producer in her own right.

Gregory would take questions from his fans during the Q and A tour. One that i found particularly interesting was his anecdote regarding the complex fight scene versus Robert Mitchum, another stage and screen icon, on the original Cape Fear - the scene where Mitchum was strangling and tried to drown Peck in a swamp. During the filming Peck mentions while underwater, how he was able to signal to Mitchum he had had enough by punching him on his leg and so Mitchum released him there.

Cape Fear, another awesome film, i revisit. Surprised to read that it was not a commercial success when first released, in 1962.

What did you think of the DeNiro version of Cape Fear?

In the 1990's yes. I have seen Martin Scorsese's "Cape Fear" before i saw the '62 original.
First time i watched the original was on ABC TV on the late John Hinde's "Movie of the Week" presentation here around 1995 or 1996.
I thought then it was far superior than the Nolte vs De Niro remake.

I think so too. Robert Mitchum was just much more menacing than de Niro, who we could all see the effort he made at acting in that movie. Mitchum didn’t have to act at all. The absence of exaggerated gestures and just left us looking at a dangerous, cold killer, instead of a caricature.

Gregory Peck too. That was a great film…
