Veseley giving Novak a bit of a match. I've been watching Jiri for his last two or three matches and he mixes things up quite nicely, not afraid to come in... Novak will win the match, but Jiri is a player who hangs around and makes matches competitive.

He has quite a good serve, Djoker's having a difficult time reading it.

Just a precursor before he serves... Veseley used to lose a LOT of close matches... he's recently starting winning a few. He blew opportunities with Coric in Marrakech... serving doubles at crucial moments.... we'll see how his nerves hang out here.

Just a warning though... this guy won't go away. Nole is going to have to up the tempo.

The Djoker won't be able to play his way into form this tournament; needs to bring at least the A-minus game if he wants to win. And make the big guy run.

At least he's making some headway into the Veseley service game despite the hold.

Needs to make the lefty run, dictate the points. He's allowing himself to be bullied; Vesely is a big hitter and not someone to battle with passive defense.

Veseley probably doesn't appreciate the movement of these elite players just yet. He might just learn the hard way.

He's actually playing too safe to be be honest and Veseley is going after his shots... but Jiri will tighten up and Novak will up the tempo. I wouldn't get too concerned just yet.

Not concerned at all. I agree he's playing way too safe and scampering about retrieving. If Djoker loses it will serve as a reminder of how he played Wawrinka at RG last year. That might be better than winning this tourney.
