I'm not a Raonic fan, per se, but I do think he has been improving incrementally even from last summer on his movement, and his new team seems to be a big help. (And I Haychew, I KNOW you know the 2.0 is software-speak, which means there can still be more versions. And for that matter, I agree with LB that it would probably take a 3.5 to win him a Major.)

But it does seem that Milos is prepared to be a fixture in the top 10. Much like Berdych, who I'm also not really a fan of, but they are both solid, tall and big-serving enough to get past much of the draw on most days. It's not thrilling, but credit where credit is due.

Yes, mox, you get it. I am also not a big fan, but credit is given where due.

As a I said in a prior post, I believe there was a big leap forward since the Wimby semi. The sting
of disappointment is a great motivator.

Not every player is an overnight phenom, many use building blocks to form their games. Look at Stan. A perfect example.

What's all this 2.0 with players? :s

Raonic went down like a lamb at Wimbo.

Yup. Outside of Fedal, the others all had similar, limp performances in their first semi or final.

As much as I don't like him, it appears that Raonic is here to stay for a while in
top 10. God save tennis and make sure he does not ever get into top 5.

If that is the case, God will not save tennis, because Milos is almost there (6th), and trust me, he will be soon 5th.
Did anyone complain this much when Roddick climbed on top of the World in tennis ranking?

Or Berdych? Or Soderling? Lesser talents than the Big 4, and not as charismatic, but solid players. I don't love Raonic's game, but if he gets to his level, he deserves it, especially if he can maintain it. Same with Ferrer. And some would pick others over Ferrer, for style, but, the bottom line is that these guys are capable of maintaining a top 10, even top 5 level, and that should be appreciated.

As per the rankings that will be released tomorrow, Milos will be ranked #5. So, I modify
my prayer and request God that he does not ever get into top 4. If God does not answer to
even my modified prayer, I will become an atheist.

Perfectly said..let the other players competing for the same spots find the solution to his game..if they can't, we all have to live with it.

Nobody said he does not deserve it. However, even you use the words that we have to
"live with him". I am just petitioning God to give me folks with whom I don't have to
"reluctantly live with"

Relax, he will not be 5, only 6 tomorrow;)

The live ranking site is now messed up, Tomas points make no sense, they dropped and he was not defending any points this week.

Oh, if only the top 10-20 were only populated by everyone who's games we completely loved. Some guys are tall and have big serves. Some are scrappy, and human backboards. There are going to be top 10 guys that make the grade because they are very talented, and consistent, whether they appeal to us or not.

Nobody gets anywhere in tennis by luck. Milso deserves all the credit for what he has done so far.

Besides, variety is good. Look at him as what Ivanisevic was to Pete or Andre...A bit saner version , of course.

I'm not sure yet if Raonic is even an Ivanesovic, but if he works hard for his place, and maintains it, then he deserves it. He has a great work ethic and he's very ambitious. Both are things to be admired.

You seem to be chasing me around today. Whatever. I'm not cheering on any "almost greats," though I will give them the credit they deserve for being consistent. And consistently Top 10 is nothing to sneeze at. I recently saw a documentary called "20 Feet from Stardom" about back-up singers. It's interesting the gulf between the top 3-4 and even the habitual 5-7. No matter how close they get to the top, some of those guys are destined to be "back-up singers" and not soloists.

Back up singer forever surely. Don't think he'd sell too many albums as a soloist. We're not exactly talking Ricky Martin on the cover as a selling point here lol.

Plenty of top 5 players have and EVEN #1s were treated with total indifference...Lendl...Kafelnikov, Rios, Courier..nothing new.
