Roger might still be the scrub from last year, maybe the last month was the exception.

Congrats Kei!

Guys, settle down. Roger is 32. He is going to have off days even when he is in a good place with his game overall. He also lost to good player, who will exploit him having an off day. It happens, Roger is old, but overall he is playing good tennis again. Step back from the ledge.

Nole will be off the court after 40 minutes against this dude. Roger 1-2 against a piss poor version of Ferrer.

Too late from stepping back from the ledge. You'll have to scrape all Fed fans off the street with a spatula after that :( That was unbelievably bad for 2 sets.

Kei plays much more interest game than ferrer. He takes the ball early. Can change direction well on both sides, and is fast. He honestly has done really well with tools he has.

That's the worst part. A losing record to this guy when he played awful, awful tennis in both :( Ok, this match he did play a super first set but sets 2 and 3 were beyond a joke today.

Roger was up a set and a break at 4-3 in the 2nd and then went 2013 on us, there's your recap.

Roger played fantastic in set 1 eventhough his first serve % was bad. First serve % dropped even further in sets 2 and 3 and his game went to utter pieces. Kei in fairness was very good but Roger donated more than a horny 17 year old in a fertility clinic.

Since the point when Fed got the break in the second set, his game went down the tunnel.
Since that time, his game is close to that of 2013 Fed.

It looked as though he thought Kei would go away once he got the break in the second set
and loosened up, and that gave the opening for Kei to get back into the match.

Rog had a low serve percentage throughout, but otherwise played good tennis through the first set. Errors creaped in during the second, and he gave back a few breaks, and Kei snuck it out. 3rd set: Federer the shankerer was in full effect.

Honestly Kei played a good match, and had more to do with the win than people give him credit for. He strong mentally in the big moments (fed wasn't). Kei changed direction very well, which helped keep those balls heading towards Fed's backhand. Fed's serving was awful!

Federer started like a bat out of hell, broke to go up 4-1. Gave back a break, eventually won the set with some pretty spectacular shot making.

Started the second set well, with some really sharp play through out then dropped serve.

The third set was SUPER tight. Served at 4-5...went down love 40...won two to get to 30-40..then BANG Nish hits a cross court backhand winner on the line..and

WHAT JUST HAPPENED????

Federer's level of plays was surprisingly up and down. A bunch of misfired forehands and mishits..but also some ridiculous Federer Fun House shots as well.

I'm baffled by this loss.

Nah, if Roger wants to show that he can still play you can't have these types of losses. There is always the chance Roger suddenly puts it together a full 2 weeks at slams but when you have these kinds of matches spring up against 3rd tier players what are the chances of playing lights out for 7 straight best of 5 matches?

First set, Roger amazing everywhere but his serve.
Second set, Roger poor all around.
Third set.... same.

Nishi chugging away, over matched and out played, but hung in there.

Sad thing, Fed's serve percent I think was the lowest in the first set...

Good to see the Fed fans won't be labelled poor losers here once again. He truly was awful from 4-3 2nd set to the end.
