So impressed with FAA. Let's see if he can maintain his composure when bombs are going left and right against Isner. He may have to back off the service line a bit to return but he can still get the upper hand in rallies against John. It will be about putting enough returns in the court and of course, you yourself serve well. It is not impossible. He is 5-0 against top 20 players which is almost funny at this stage of his career.

FAA is up to #33 in the live rankings, which means he's going to finish the Miami Open in the top 40. I think that makes him the first 18-year old to rank in the top 40 since...Borna Coric, who reached the top 40 in June of 2015 when he was still five months shy of his 19th birthday. Of course Borna stagnated in the middle of the top 100 for about two years before jumping into the top 20 range starting last June. I don't foresee a similar stagnation from FAA.

That all makes a hell of a lot of sense. But there's no accounting for Roger's ability to lay absolute turds these days. Hope you're right!

Yes, for sure he can do that any time. Remember 2017 WTF. It was supposed to be a walk in the park for him to win the 7th WTF after the draw opened up. But, he laid an egg.

what on earth does that matter? Fedalovic didn't play Fedalovic either. This is a signpost showing how good he is. This is the first kid I've seen who is actually ahead of these guys. It's amazing.

And btw.. he's the youngest semi finalist in Miami in 35yrs

It does matter a lot because he would lose and stats would be different, FFA has not played D.thiem A.zverev so that's basically the whole top 5 he has not even played yet. I just think everyone jumping the guy with this kid. He is really good thats for sure, but most talented only time will tell that story, I think S.tsitsipas just as good.:):yesyes:

mate you don't understand the usefulness of that stat. That's fine. If your criterion for assessing everything is facing Fedalovic then not only are you judging players by an unfair standard, but you're judging them more harshly than even Fedalovic was judged. Let's just leave it there, this is a waste of time

nadal at 18 years old beat federer+ Andy.roddick in the some season, but ok I get your point FFA is super good for his age and it is a waste of time at stage his career so lets just leave it at that.

He's serving fine now. 135 mph. Kind of worried about Roger here.

It will be interesting to see on how Shapovalov plays Federer. They have never met before. One thing I have seen Shapovalov do this week is that he has been composed even after losing the first set. It will be interesting to see if he can be patient enough to go toe to toe with Federer.
