Denis Shapovalov lost his opener.
I heard about two players from India before, but never about this one. Sort of headscratcherIt is really a bad loss, considering he lost to an Indian Qualifier.
Haha. How generous of you to give him a pass. You weren't giving him a pass earlier during your meltdown when he was down a set.Considering he is coming back from a three month break, I will give him a pass as he got the job done. I am sure he will steadily improve with more matches under his belt.
Just watched the highlights. I think it's a very good 1st round match to have had. I also believe as others have stated he will get better as the tournament moves on.Considering he is coming back from a three month break, I will give him a pass as he got the job done. I am sure he will steadily improve with more matches under his belt.

Yes, Somdev has retired indeed.I checked apparently Somdev he announced his retirement on 1st Jan 2017.
This guy actually beat John Isner in NCAA finals in singles (of course, over a bunch of TB sets) and then their career diverged into two different paths. He barely had two mediocre years in the circuit.
it's the case everywhere with Federer. In fact the only place it doesn't happen is when Roger has played Rafa in Spain. Otherwise the support for Federer tends to match the home player. I rather suspect that if Roger played Kei in Tokyo, Kei would comfortably have support, apart from him hard to think of too many other players. Novak in Serbia of course...Strange to learn both from reports and the highlights that Fed received more German crowd support and cheers than his German opponent Zverev. And apparently, it's the case in other countries where he goes to play. When did it last happen in tennis that a given visiting player was more popular than locals? Well, in case of Zverev, it could be chauvinism against his half-Russian heritage but I exclude that explanation, as a similar popularity outcome is when Fed plays e.g. Kohl in Germany.

Yes, this is true..GSM knew he was gonna get rafafied (crucified) if Roger drop a calf and lost that match. GSM can be as fickle as the crowd at the French openHaha. How generous of you to give him a pass. You weren't giving him a pass earlier during your meltdown when he was down a set.
London Olympics 2012 - the home crowd was definitely with Murray. I think that's just the Country>Player scenario where it comes to events like the Olympics. I reckon a Davis Cup tie would be the same. In contrast, at the YEC in London, people who have gone, generally say Federer gets the majority of the support when he plays Murray.
