A few brutal misses there to lose that last game. Hopefully it doesn't affect him much. Thankfully he has a lot of margin for error here up as much as he is.

After the injury timeout it seems to have worked in the way of Dzumhur who has broken back and taken a lead in the 2nd set.

I did not know that Harrison had fans. :puzzled

Haha!

Well I was originally an Andy Roddick fan. Then he up and retired so I needed an American I could back. The pickings were slim to say the least. Not really a fan of Isner's game so.... There was this kid with a pretty good baseline game that piqued my interest. I watched him play Federer and while he looked totally raw and had much to learn I thought he had potential. Thus I became a fan.

Then a number of years later I was perplexed because the potential I saw was not developing. If anything it was regressing. Harrison dwindled down the rankings to some where south of irrelevancy. Needless to say I got to see very few matches during those times and probably if I had, I'd of wished I had something better to do (like clean the fridge).

In 2016 I began to hear rumors that Ryan actually gave a damn about tennis again and he was climbing back on up from the basement. So here we are today with him winning matches again and hopefully if everything goes according to plan, a Memphis title. :D

So yes apparently Ryan Harrison does have some fan(s) still. :p Besides, it's far more fun for me to root for someone that's not really at the top of Men's Tennis.

This isn't as "sexy" a lineup as, say, Rotterdam, but what makes this interesting to me is that there is a decent chance a young player breaks through and wins a first title: Americans Reilly Opelka, Frances Tiafoe, and Taylor Fritz, as well and youngish (22) Australian Jordan Thompson all are in the mix.

The "next generation" players were wiped out rather fast, then the "lost generation" took control of this event.
Now a new ATP title holder will be crowned, as Georgian Basilashvili is waiting for an American in the final. That will be either DY or Ryan Harrison.

Wow; all the seeds knocked out before the semi! How embarrassing! Congrats to Vincent Van Patten of this age; Ryan Harrison! Who's his starlet GF? :nono - - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Memphis_Open_%E2%80%93_Singles#Draw - -

Things happen for a reason, the 2 finalists were climbing nicely since the season begun:
They were ranked at the end of last season:

90. Harrison
94. Basilashvili

and this week, before Memphis:
62. Harrison
67. Basilashvili

So they climbed in tandem, mirroring each other. Obviously, they will continue climbing handsomely, following this week.

They have never played each other and is the first final for both of them.

Ryan was under pressure in that third game. Took some great defensive shots to keep afloat!

Basilashvili seems like a very aggressive hitter. Pretty scary when he's on. But he's also donating a lot of points this way.
