Remember when Nadal made excuses after losing to Andy Murray in a Juniors match when they were 11?

Wait, that's not what this thread is about? Sorry, I thought that's what we do here.

February is almost over. We will have everyone assembling in one place
soon for March Madness ATP 1000 tournaments.

I was wondering which match-up folks are waiting to see. I am putting
what I think as top 4 candidates out there. Vote for one of them or vote
for other. If you vote for other, mention your dream match-up in a post.

1. Rafa vs. Andy: Has not taken place since Andy became a Man.
Will his wows against Rafa continue or will there
be a turn in this rivalry?

2. Rafa vs. Stan: With so much debate as to whether Stan really
won against Rafa or Rafa lost due to injury, this
match-up would be worth watching and will be
on the radar of everyone. My guess would be
that Stan will lose, but play good and take
one set. In the long term, Stan will
probably continue to provide tough
matches to Rafa winning about say 1/3rd to
1/2 of future matches between them.

3. Stan vs. Fed: Can the swiss #1 beat Swiss #2? For that
reason alone worth watching. My guess
would be that the numbers would not
matter in this case.

4. Rafa vs. Novak: How can I leave it world #1 vs. world #2 match up?
Can Novak continue his winning ways that he displayed
last fall? Also, it may give some indication as to
what might happen at FO, which Novak wants dearly.

I give you all three weeks time to vote.

I am leaving out Rafa vs. Fed for obvious reasons. I am leaving out
Novak vs. Andy as this is one of the most boring top-level match-ups
(even if the result is unpredictable).

Anything to do with Andy & we would expect a post like this from you.
(Novak vs. Andy as this is one of the most boring top-level match-ups)
Myself when it's the higher ranked tennis players play, thay are all good to watch even if our fav player does not win.

Nadal/Murray is one I'm looking forward to - but preferably when Murray is match hardened and firing on all cylinders.

I agree with Sid - any match between the so-called Big 4 (I know, that sounds corny now) is an interesting one, even those including Murray. Even Murray-Djoker! There's usually a lot at stake and they're high-tension competitive battles.

Nadal-Djoker has been stuck on #39 for ages now! 3 whole months! We need them boys back in the ring, battering sixpence out of each other. Federer is going to have to show he can stand the pace, as is Murray, but I fancy Murray's chances more, because his hardest task is getting fit again.

Federer has to get young again :puzzled

I'm the "Add Your Own Option" guy. F3 vs. Dr. Youzhny...because they're my phaves. Iph we're sticking with the powerhouses, then...Pholks vs. Djokovic at the AO and FO and Pholks vs. Murray at Wimbledon and the US Open.

I Haychew, WTPh is with all the ph's? Also, shouldn't it be Ph3, not F3?

Cheers

The "ph's" are my new thing...phor the time being. And, according to my "ph" vs. "f" rules, it's only "ph" iph it's a hard eph (f) that doesn't start with an "e". Phor example...Fabio = Phabio, whereas F3 would = Eph 3 instead of Ph 3. Make sense? Note: "Of" does not = "oph" because the "f" is "soft" (makes a "v" sound).

Also..."WTF" would actually be "WT-EPH" and not "WTPh", unless you're actually saying "What The Phuck" and not just the letters. And it's now ophicially okay to say "phuck" because it's no longer the "eph" word or a phour letter word.

From the above reply and some other replies, I see that my initial posting is not clear. I am interested in knowing the match-up between two top 10 players in Indian Wells or Miami, that you are eagerly waiting to see.

Sorry. In that case, I'd most like to see Djokovic vs. Wawrinka.

Amazingly, there is a possibility of ALL four match-ups in my OP materializing
in the Indian Wells tournament, if the draw plays out properly to make it happen.

Three of the four match-ups cannot happen anymore at IW as all of them involved Rafa.
The only possible match-up, from my list to watch, is Swiss #1 vs. Swiss #2.

That seems to have reasonable chances of materializing, as it is just one match away.

Amusingly, I find almost all of the top 4 matchups sort of boring. Not just b/c we've seen them all before ad nauseum, but rather they tend to have predictable patterns and they are typically marked by sloppy play and bad mental miscues.

Every once and awhile I enjoy a few minutes of a Djokovic-Nadal match for the sheer physicality and grueling nature of it, but then my blood pressure goes north and my patience at the long time violations south and I have to switch it off.

I sort of miss some of the Sampras/Agassi, Federer/Safin matchups where you would sometimes see both guys bringing out their best tennis.

Ok. Stan's exit means none of my top four match-ups materializes in IW.

Let us hope some of them materialize in Miami.

You are referring to big-4 match-ups. I was referring to top 4 match-ups that I want to
see as listed in the poll.
