I am opening this this thread about the "measly" event, because this actually has a larger field than the average 250 events, by having 32 players in the draw and not 28.
As a consequence the top 4 will not get a bye.
Two of the seeds have been eliminated already: Paire and Dolgopolov.

Is this still the only Pro Tour event played in Africa?
There was one in South Africa also a few years back in Johannesburg, but that was canned after a few seasons .

The winner from last year, Borna is not participating, therefore he will drop at the minimum, 11 ranking spots.

Go Kohlscherereiberbiberuberalleswienerwurstvonmiller!

You should use some other cheering method because it did not work.

He got upset by a player ranked 600+.

I quit watching that one, thinking he was righting the ship in the 3rd. Now Ramos-Viñolas about to go down to a Russian I'd never heard of : Vatutin.

Pablo AndĂşjar is back after 3 surgeries. He just won the inaugural JC Ferrero challenger in Alicante, beating De Minaur in the final, btw. He's up after this match, I think.

The Russian guy you have never heard of is new to me too.
I just looked up his name for the first time the other day, when he beat de Minaur in the qualifying round. He is definitely up to something, because he took out the top seed Ramos.
His name is Alexey Vatutin.

Btw, this week is Vatutin debut on the ATP tour and he had 2 good wins right away, Struff in R1 and Ramos in R2.

Call me old-fashioned, but 25 is a little old, given that he's never been on our radar at all. I know a lot of players are improving later into their 20s, and all, but I was a little surprised when I saw his age.

Old fashioned or plain old?

Not only that but he ate a bagel in the process.

Didn't we see Estrella Burgos at 33y coming out of nowhere, winning 3 titles in his mid thirties ? Just saying
