Robbie K LOL. She does have a bun in the oven so we'll let her off.

Fed is rustier than a 25 year nail in a gutter. Nadal wasn't even this rusty after 7 months off and it's been only 7 weeks for Fed. More shanks than a butcher's shop. Terrible stuff to watch.

i'd like to say i'm surprised by what's shaping to be the outcome, but i'm not. anyway, glad for Kei, really like the guy.

wouldn't put it down to rust - it's similar to what we've seen before this year, just even worse. not saying it's the back - just saying that he's not playing good.

#2 is gone, but would have been anyway. the question is, where will his rank be after Wimbledon? highly unlikely that it'll be a top 4.

i'd love to get more excited about Kei, but i'm afraid there's no real need to. while it's a great win for him, he's been there, done that before, nothing new or overly promising. He played solid at the end, but this was Fed falling completely apart.

Fed is out! Really sloppy from the world's #2. So #1 and #2 are out.

World number 3 now. He just gifted it to Murray. Again. At least Haas v Ferrer should be better. I hope Tommy does it this time. Had his chances in Miami and Ferrer's not at his best.

I think we are seeing the resurgence of 2011 fed or maybe it was because he didn't wear collared shirts this tournament.

Federer really needs to get his act together. Only 1260 points gathered this year and the tennis season is nearly half way.

If it's not time to push the panic button it is getting damn close. He has been flat out pathetic this entire season and at this point all these tournaments are becoming important due to how critical it is to stay in the top 4 for draw purposes at slams. Lopsided losses to Nishikori and Benneteau says it all right now.

Anyway, this Madrid tourney doesn't love its top contenders, or maybe the top contenders don't love the Madrid tourney.

depending on what the button is supposed to do, i'd say it might even be a bit too late for that now. if you worry about the ranking now, just think of what'll happen if he doesn't make the cut for London.

i dunno, we'll see what happens. something's amiss, for sure, but who knows what? the serve worries me the most, but it's not like you can tell anything from it - anything that affects any part of your game will most likely also affect the serve. could be something physical, lack of energy, strength, whatever. could just as well be something between the ears. and most likely of all, a combination of the two. it's hard to say.

the most interesting thing for me would be to know what exactly Fed expects these days - just to go out there, see what happens, see if it starts (consistently) clicking again? and if not, just as well, we got a reservations at eight anyway? i wouldn't blame him, at this point, but then again, is it worth it playing at all?
