If prayer does any good, pray for Federal employees to get paid sooner than later here in the States! This shutdown is killing them!
I hope they get paid soon & that they manage to live proper lives. I really feel for them. Trump has made a right mess & things need to be sorted out.

The USA population including most of these federal workers voted for Trump. Everyone knew even during the campaign that he was crazy, racist, sexist, etc. but they still voted for them, so I guess now it's a learning lesson. I do pray however for the innocent kids affected by this mess.

But this isn't the thread to talk about this, otherwise I'd pray for Venezuela, tons of poor countries in Africa, very sick people, violence victims, etc. before this particular event in the USA. But this is a tennis forum so we need to pray for Nadal, Kvitová too and their respective injustice.

The Americans didn't have much choice as Hilary Clinton wasn't exactly little Miss innocent either.

O.K. It's your thread so I'll respect your wishes. I'm an atheist so don't pray. This is a tennis forum so we do talk tennis. We talk about other things too but in the proper areas except for when things go off course anyway then we just join in & have fun. I'll take your hint & leave your thread alone.

Oh for sure Federer fans are thrilled! Djokovic has been working hard to keep Roger at GOAT status by restricting Nadal's winning!

Yeah like in those USO finals that Rafa won  Or the 2012 AO and 2018 WB that Djokovic barely squeezed by.

Nadal had a great run to the final, but Djoker is always a bad matchup for him here. Unlike the 2012 final, Novak did not face Murray in the semis. He was as fresh as Ralf was. I thought he’d go on a walkabout at some point, and it would be a four set win. No loss of focus. No (visible) nervousness. Rafa looks fit and healthy after the long layoff, but not as sharp as he needs to be.

This is 2019 and he's now beaten him 13 out the last 16 times they've played. The bookies were right and there was too much false hope from the Nadal camp and commentators/"experts" based on his performance against nobodies but, come crunch time against the guy who has his number, all you needed to look at was 13/15, now 13/16 in their last 16 matches.

Yup I thought it could easily be 3 easy sets but voted for 4 as I had thought there could've been a 2nd set lapse from Novak but he played solid throughout with great focus and very few errors. Interesting months ahead and wonder will Novak have his number on clay too this year.

Djokovic will have to troll Nadal - taking two from Monte Carlo, Madrid, or Rome. He can’t let Rafa get on a roll and expect to stop him in Paris.

Do you think it was an issue of sharpness or simply playing on a surface where he has really no chance against Djokovic without hitting low-percentage winners on a regular basis? I don't really see what Nadal can do against Djokovic on a slow hard-court like that.

Watching YouTube experts, they comment on how Djokovic thumped the backhand as hard as he could taking "time" away from Rafa!

I called Djokovic to win in 4 because of the challenges he presents Rafa on this surface. But 34 winners to 9 ufe? Around 80% of first and 2nd serves won? Yes sharpness. That was probably one of the best matches he's ever played. No walkabouts. No visible nerves. No loss of focus. Sharp. :good:

Djokovic has beaten Roger quite a lot of times too, that seems to get lost in all this. The difference is the grandpa is not just a year older than Novak and he also isn't utterly helpless against him as is often the case with Nadal.
