Hey that's sacrilegious,,Nadal fans dont want any alligence with El "Benedict Arnold "..pass him over to the Djokovic fans or Steve Darcis fans,,You, you.... you Nadal fan!
I lurk on all sorts of sports forums, and honestly most of them either lock threads before they become politically charged or have a lounge/podium type sub-forum so people there for sports only don't come across it unless they want to enter. I only stick around here during GS seasons so I can't even remember if there was a political sub-forum on Tennis Frontier. Only reason I kept up with that Margaret Court thread is that it was in the ATP/WTA forums.
As for suggestions, I don't have an account there but I lurk on Talk About Tennis talkabouttennis.com/forum. Funny thing is I didn't notice a Politics section until I looked for it just now. The people who run the tennis discussions seem to be good people IMO. Anyways, that's the other friendly tennis forum I've kept up with during GS times. Take care and don't mind anyone giving you crap in this thread for leaving.
What are you talking about? I'd say it would be great for you (of course you seem now to be a little more quiet than before....)Those fora hurt my eyes. Also generally a bit too fanboyish for my taste. Would be great for Carol though.
I would have liked Moxie's post above but she is just too PC and I do not want to endorse her.
In my experience, I've see WAAAY less complaint about light moderation compared to over-moderation. And Britbox is right...we're practically a convent compared to a lot of sites. I second everything that he and Kskate have said. We moved the Margaret Court arena thread to World Affairs (i.e., the political thread,) as we figure politics and some "Off Topic" threads might be a bit more free-wheeling. This is not an invitation for people to behave like trolls, but we're also discovering that, since we're basically a very old community, re-amalgamated, that does a good job of keeping things on track as a united group. We'll find the water line together.
Look, I know you are doing a hard job getting the merger done and I'm sorry if I've made it harder. I did and do still think that it shouldn't be hard to decide that calling gay people "homos", or using any other kind of slur that demeans a group on the basis of sexuality, race, gender, religion, whatever, crosses the line. (And yes, I did report the post and waited several days for something to happen.) But I don't want to fan the flames any further; I hope you find a solution in the future that works for the people on the board.
For those I've talked with in the past, I just want to clarify a few things that may have been lost:
1. This is not about politics to me. I don't object to the stating of opinions, no matter how much I may disagree with them, if they are relevant to the tennis discussion. I may think that opposition to gay marriage is wrong, but it can be expressed without hate speech (in which case I would not suggest it should be censored on the board).
2. As far as I am concerned, ignoring abuse and hate speech where I witness it would make me complicit in it. Using an "ignore" function for this purpose is not an acceptable solution to me.
3. I'm not sure what El Dude is referring to, but I don't recall ever criticising the moderation on Tennis Frontier. I may have reported some posts - which I will do when I feel a line has been crossed, see above - but I always thought the moderation was well-judged and fair. I am sorry if this did not come across, or if I did not articulate it, as moderators have a difficult job at the best of times and deserve praise for doing it well.
Maybe I shouldn't have opened this thread at all - I just wanted those I'd had friendly discussions with to know I was leaving and why. Many thanks to those who suggested I should stay, but I don't think that's possible at this point, at least not for now. I don't plan to visit this thread again, and there is probably little to be gained in further discussion on it. I wish you all the best. Keep enjoying the tennis!
Gracious, as ever.your repeated advertising of tail between your legs is getting boring what do you expect a carriage to walk you out?
has nobody taught you to toughen up? ouch, Margaret Court crossed the line, i crossed the line, so many people hurt your feelings......sign of the times, full of soft cocks floating around but i don't have malicious intentions, so come back if you got balls to defend your position......just cry babying is ridiculous, and your repeated TP-exiting will be nothing but a laughing stock.
Gracious, as ever.
:lulz2: Coming from you, I'll take that as an olive branch. Though I don't expect the cease-fire to last long.gracias....you got more 'balls' than the runner even as a girl
