Given that the hate speech by Ricardo

https://www.tennis-prose.com/tennis...argaret-court-arena-to-be-renamed.5453/page-4

is now clearly considered acceptable on the forum (I have reported and nothing as happened), I will no longer be contributing here. I find this sad, as I don't believe that basic standards of discussion have been violated that would have been upheld on the Tennis Frontier forums prior to the merger.

I would like to thank everyone for the interesting discussions, which I have enjoyed - even where we have disagreed.

If someone can suggest a friendly tennis forum where hate spech is not tolerated, then I welcome suggestions.

MJT: best to ignore Ritardo's comments. That's what I do. You can use the ignore function with your personal settings.

And please stay, the more posters the better.

@mightyjeditribble , I hope you reconsider your decision. I cannot say that I think it is wrong, because it is personal, and that´s it.

A lot of posters will agree that you are fine poster and contribute a lot with the discussion, both about tennis and other topics.

Bearing in mind my first line of the post, I would add this: Even labeling some posts as "hate speech", I do not see how simply leaving the forum helps to prevent it. If you say that you are not here to fight it, then fine, but I guess that someone who is (rightly) bothered by what he perceives as hate speech always wants to do something about it.

And, finally, the boards are a mini extract from society: It is like some laboratory experiment of social interaction. In real life, most times you are not allowed to turn your back and leave. Again, I know this is not "real life", but dealing with issues here may help you out there.

I don´t necessarily agree with the poster you are calling out, but I strongly disagree that he should be banned. Anyway, good reading and posting, here or elsewhere.

lol, BB made his forum because the tennisfrontier crew banned his decade long buddies, even totally PC people like brokenshoelace, didn't you read what he wrote about the history of these forums?????

Ricardo has his opinions but he's an old buddy, his view of culture is different from yours but that's it...

THB i was enthusiastic about the merge of Scoop's site and discuss.tennis, i wasn't so happy about the tennisfrontier one, exactly because of how they messed up the old community with the stupid PC bans.... again, do some reseach.....

However, even though i wasn't happy about the merging with the tennisfrontier forum now i'm ok with it, some cool faces came that i already like a lot like Front242..... ofc i don't agree with everything he says, like about Sharapova, but i accept that he thinks differently about certain things, but we can have nice chat about music....

so maybe i fume a bit about some things certain people say but i know not everybody thinks like me.

Actually in connection with Ricardo, as i said i know him, he's an old poster, i trust him and he's closer to me in thinking than let's say you or Moxie. I don't like culture like this: http://usatodayhss.com/2017/connect...wood-wins-two-state-titles-amidst-controversy

BTW Ricardo, along with many totally nice and tolerant and PC people got banned on tennisfrontier, do you want to get him banned again here too???? No way dude, then half the board or more will leave this board too......

Why do you want to turn this unique board into another mtf or tennis-warehouse? (those are the "friendly" boards btw, if you don't like it here try staying there then if you don't like it there you'll be always welcome back here)

What about taking Denis's advice and using the ignore option???

"Former Member" :lulz1::laugh::lol3: lol guy deleted his account :p

Oh well, he can make a new account when the bitchy troll cliques on mtf and tf have sucked his blood out and he's realised there's no depth of discussions or relationships there ;)

Damn, we lost such a contributor, tbh i don't remember any of his posts but the fact he didn't even bother to put up a godforsaken avi is proof of his dedication to the board :lulz1:

Yeah, as for avis, Ricardo, what about putting up an avi? Don't worry, we won't let PC jerks kill you off or we all die with you :skull::rip::lulz1::laugh::dance3:

Well spotted, Nekro. In that case, he backed up his words with actions -- even if I would guess he might check out the answers, as he asked for suggestions. That was a political statement.

Anyway, by doing so he somewhat hurts the boards, and he knows that (and he surely believes that he is doing the right thing). I started this post to suggest (or at least consider) that, to protect the boards from the false image this could suggest, that this thread should be deleted, but thinking again, it better stay here, to let people read it all and make up their own minds.

Yes I agree @mrzz , if only to bash the TF mod style. That was getting seriously ridiculous at some point. Got banned myself too. Thanks to BB for keeping things real.

A bit sad that posters like @retardo can drive others from the forum, but tbh I'm not really posting anymore either so I get it. I would rather not have censorship personally, but I can't say I'm enthused about the merger so who am I to speak!

I'd hang fire for the time being MJT and I'll explain why below, but if you want to ignore any posters on the site you click their profile name to take them to their profile page and click the Ignore option in the top right. You won't see their posts.

OK, this merger hasn't even finished yet - there is still Tennis-Prose side of it to get done, some further integration, rebranding etc... You'll likely see additional new posters coming in after that and if you read the blogs then you'll see that there are a lot of good ones.

We had a small window of time to get this done for a number of reasons - TF's software was no longer supported by the vendor, some posters on both TF and DT had drifted away, TP had costs coming up - so the merger had to be done pretty quickly and as a result we'll have to iron out flaws, figure out how this works best for everyone as we go along.

Your issue was raised, but with the one of the forum admins @Moxie away, @kskate2 doing all the live chats and stuff + learning board admin functions during a grand slam tournament, and me working on tennis-prose stuff , there was a lot of stuff going on and remember this is something that is just run by people in their spare time.

So basically, people have been maxed out on getting things up and running and other things such as even considering moderation stuff have taken a back seat.

We've all had to give and take a little to get this merger done. This forum isn't Discuss.Tennis without any moderation. It will be moderated, albeit with a light touch and only where really necessary.

Just for info, Scoop and Dan own this website. Kskate and Moxie will moderate the tennis forums and I will moderate the non-tennis and off-topic stuff. There is an agreed principle of keeping it light, really as light as the board can stand, but that doesn't mean anything goes. Posters from DT will also have to get with the programme - we're all having to make some compromises for the solution of a long-term viable board.

Speaking for myself, I don't really want political shit in the tennis forums at all. Unfortunately that thread was a crossover. Those kind of discussions may possibly belong in the Off-Topic section which is a melting pot of wide ranging views (including ones people won't necessarily like) which IMO should be kept as open as possible. If people don't like the off-topic stuff, then they have no reason to be in that section of the forum. It is fundamentally a tennis board after all.

Bottom line is, I would give it a chance before bolting and bear with it while we and the board find our feet.

I remember when I started to post here someone (I rather not saying his name) was rude and a lack of education in all the ways who told me very ugly things and I almost left the board but you britbox convenced me not do it and I'm glad I didn't. Anyway in all the boards there are trolls and very bad posters who likes to insult if we don't think the same way like them. The best way is to ignore them and leaving them with their misery. I think this board is pretty fair with posters with different taste and opinions, fans of this one or the other one but it's part of the entertainment while it's doing with certain respect, can you imagine if all of us would think the same way?
Come on guys, stay around here!

I lurk on all sorts of sports forums, and honestly most of them either lock threads before they become politically charged or have a lounge/podium type sub-forum so people there for sports only don't come across it unless they want to enter. I only stick around here during GS seasons so I can't even remember if there was a political sub-forum on Tennis Frontier. Only reason I kept up with that Margaret Court thread is that it was in the ATP/WTA forums.

As for suggestions, I don't have an account there but I lurk on Talk About Tennis talkabouttennis.com/forum. Funny thing is I didn't notice a Politics section until I looked for it just now. The people who run the tennis discussions seem to be good people IMO. Anyways, that's the other friendly tennis forum I've kept up with during GS times. Take care and don't mind anyone giving you crap in this thread for leaving.

Not sure if MJT is reading this, but I will say that the price of freedom is having to put up with people like Ricardo. Just try not to take it so personally. People will believe and say a lot of ugly things, but that doesn't mean that it has to sully your experience of life (or this forum). You are, in a sense, letting the Ricardos of the world win by running away. Best to just ignore him, and make the forum what you want it to be. Just give up the illusion that you can somehow control or censor others into being what you think they should be. If you really got that kind of forum, well, it would be rather sanitized and lacking in diversity, which is somewhat ironic given why you're upset with Ricardo.

A comment about some of the responses here re: the merger. I don't get the folks who are upset by it. Why are you upset? What do you feel is being lost? Britbox has stated that this forum will only be lightly moderated, if at all. Look at it this way: maybe it goes from 100% anything goes to 99% anything goes, but you add a few old posters and potentially gain a bunch of new ones. Seems like a small price to pay for a healthier, more robust community.

I was a moderator at TW for the last year and half, but didn't come on until after the so-called "PC purge." To be honest, I was completely clueless when it was going on. I just noticed that some of the more...feisty...posters were gone. I'm glad that the gang is all back together again, at least potentially so, as I like a diverse community. But as I said to Jedi, the price you pay for freedom is the Ricardos of the world, but he's relatively harmless, even if he never evolved out of the 1950s ;). The other side is true, too: the price you pay for a more diverse, robust community is a touch of moderation. Small price to pay in both cases, in my opinion.

My only worry here is that this suicide bummer troll maybe managed to make Ricardo feel guilty about nothing...... Man, give some sign of life asap:heart: :p :hoops:

lol that was like the most unwise padawan i ever saw btw... :yoda::suicide:

Yeah but MJT also remember BB is a real jedi master he can resurrect u :lightning: like activate ur account and stuff.... I mean here it's not like for example on SM forums where there's complete deletion of the account so if there's a will there's a way... no worries, i mean even anakin got new lungs and arms and shit, we'll make a nice droid of u too :dance3:

Actually if you look more carefully i'm giving him useful advice, like this is not the end of the world and he can reverse his decision, and knowing that i'm pulling his leg a bit :p

Like it's obvious with this radical bs he wanted to nuke Ricardo, do you expect me to fall for his trick? lol :lulz1:

You're too nice, mrzz. Get with the times and be a douche. Still, at best I think you can only be Nekro Lite.
