I thought that Rafa and Roger would play the doubles
Anyway it's good to see there is a good relation between them including with Fog

They’re saving a Nadal/Federer doubles match for later, I’m sure.

This is like so embarrassing at this time! Maybe a few years from now after Fedalovic leave the game, there will be a better balance of power in tennis! This is ridiculous that OTTH, Europe is sporting several players in the top 11 while the rest of the world is having trouble forming a team that's anywhere near as competitive; scrapping the bottom of the rankings with Sock who fell out of the top 200! We might have a chance in doubles since Sock's won in the past with different partners! I doubt I'll be watching any of it; even a featured doubles' exhibition with Fedal! Call it growing pains; later it might be really something! Right now it's just a fan event! I just don't want to hear any bellyaching about being tired with this crap going on just after the USO! :nono:  :banghead:

Team world has too many players from the North America, in total 5 and 2 from Australia, not diversified enough IMO. I am surprised that Nishikori is not playing. Was he playing before I don't remember, but Sock seems to be regular even though he can't win a singles match. I guess they keep him for doubles, he is pretty good at it.

When I think about it, tennis is missing some stars from other continents. South America used be stronger, hope Garin and Jarry will become better. Chung could have joined team World, but he is not there. I guess they decide all this a year in advance. There is no one representing africa as well with Anderson out, but I don't think many people really want to pay tickets to watch Jaziri play.

This is a good point, but the Asian swing is about to happen, and maybe Nishikori and Chung didn't want to go to Geneva for a week, then back to Asia. Perhaps next year they could play it in Asia, since everyone is headed there anyway. And play it in South America at some point, so as to entice some S. American players.

I'll be honest, it still seems more like an exhibition to me, too. The fact that they raised its status and gave it points seems more about Roger and Godsick being behind it, than anything else. BTW, does anyone know how many points it's worth, and how awarded? Also, what about this new ATP team event in January?

I have no idea on scoring system for Laver Cup, new Davis Cup and ATP Cup in January. I have a feeling this team event in January will do better than the new Davis Cup. The new ATP Cup in January is like a reboot of that team event they used to do in Duseldorf.

What was the team event they used to do in Dusseldorf? I have this idea that the ATP team event is meant to kill the Davis Cup. And I'm not sure what happens with Davis Cup, after this year.

OK, aside from the fact that this is a completely trollish post, and I thought you were reaching higher than that, how would this be good for Rafa? He would over-play, first of all. Then, I guess he'd have to take on double teams single-handedly? Then he would blow out his knees and be toast for the rest of the year, if not including the AO. Tell me why this is a good idea?

I used to love the "Nation's Cup" way back when! You had all the top players on clay before the FO! I still remember Borg def.'ting Vilas!

I also think that a new ATP Cup is not a coincidence to start just after the new Davis Cup. We have to wait and see how it will do, but possible boycots from some players were mentioned before. I just found that new ATP Cup will have a prize money of 15 million $, so someone is trying hard to have a better tournament than the Davis Cup.

I liked the Davis Cup as it was, despite many of the top players not playing. It was about the atmosphere and representing the country, not about the money. They could refresh it if they wanted, but not so radical.

really want to see nadal vs. kyrgios at laver cup, but will be happy with nadal Federer doubles, aslo nadal due for a loss so maybe it will be good to get that out of the way at laver cup, but not to kyrgios.

Wow, I have absolutely no recollection of the World Team Cup. But I agree with you about DC. I always said that it was a great springboard for lesser players. Maybe the new ATP Cup can be too, but I'm just not sure how it's going to work.

Can any of this be viewed online, even extended highlights? Does not look like any of our mainstream television will be covering the Laver cup here in AU , this year, sad to say :(
