Nishikori vs Nieminen in the second SF

A Nishikori loss would be a huge upset, I doubt it'll happen. But then, Jarkko has been the dark horse here. Jarkko has sent #3 and #7 seeds home.

All that said, I do prefer a #1 vs #2 final.

I don't think Jarkko is good enough to upset Nishi and that too in Asian soil.

Benneteau looking to stretch that record of his tomorrow then...

0-9 in finals. I wonder if that's a record, at least among active players?

Really hope he wins! Too good to not have a title.
I sat down with Julien this June at the Aegon International and interviewed him about his 9 runnerup matches. He was just one point away from winning his first title earlier this year. I asked him if he will keep playing until he gets his first ATP title. He emphatically said no! Winning doubles at Roland Garros this year, was far more important to him than an ATP title, but he did add he still hopes he could still perhaps have a chance to get that first title! Also, qualifying for the year end event in London in doubles with Edouard was also highly important, and that looks like it will happen. As I also speak French, it was one of the most enjoyable interviews I have had with a top ranked player. It was a pleasure.

So you're saying he's committed to retiring? Next year? I haven't really been keeping up with him. He played great against Gulbis. I'm watching the replay now.

Oh no I am not saying that at all. He is playing some of his best tennis ever, this year. At 33 he has jumped back up the rankings in singles significantly. He is simply saying winning an ATP title is not his main goal. Playing well in the Davis Cup for France is one of his prime objectives, as well as continuing to play superbly well in doubles with Edouard Vasselin. I do not think retiring is in his immediate plans, he is very focused on continuing his career, but his objectives are varied. I saw his match with Gulbis and also his match against Wawrinka earlier in the year, where again he demonstrated great skill. He is very focused, but he just has a varied amount of things he wants to accomplish, besides getting that 1st ATP title. I also saw him play for France versus Canada in the Davis Cup, in Vancouver two years ago, against Milos Raonic and again in doubles with at that time Richard Gasquet.
