If Cibulkova wins her match against qualifier Vitalia Diatchenko, she will clinch the second alternative position in Singapore,if she loses Makarova will clinch the second alternative position in Singapore

The youngsters are doing well - at least this babe the 18 year-old Katerina Siniakova defeats Elena Vesnina in straight sets to advance to R2. A little surprise in a very poor tournament if you compare to the players in Luxembourg. Things can change but.....:nono

Another good match.

Keterina Siniakova vs Kristina Mladenovic 61 61

Well done Katerina. :clap

Memo to the Pocket Rocket

For the love of tennis please you have to work to correct this insane high ball toss?
I know you are a short player, still having such a high ball toss only makes this issue worse.
May I suggest you book into the Serena Williams Academy Of Ball Toss? one day that ball wont come back.

This match so far should not have gone to 3 sets by the way, shout out to the young qualifier, she has played more aggressive tennis, well done so far in this match.

Domi is serving 2-5 in the 3rd set

It now appears that Makarova will be the 2nd alternative player at Singapore, unless Domi can right the ship in this final set.

Vitalia Diatchenko, residence: Moscow, Russia, date of Birth: 02 Aug 1990 Pronounced: dee-a-tchenko. Present ranking 140 - actual ranking 104 and if she wins the quarterfinal she'll be inside top 100 - a real hottie - don't you think? - playing good tennis ;)

Stats for this match

Domi 8/25 Diatchenko 33/35

Every stat tells a picture,in this match it is plain to see, that the aggressor won the match, even though the winners to ufe ratio wasnt that pleasing in ways.33 winners to Domi's 8 winners? pretty much sums up this match, also 25 ufe from Domi? ouch:)

I think it's time a Russian took this title, it was 2007 when Elena Dementieva won it.
A curse for Russian Ladies? Elena beat Serena in that final!

Very happy for Lucie. She's having a great season. Hopefully she wins it all now.

Only 14 UEs from Lucie, now that's a rarity:)

Giorgi and siniakova are playing in horrible conditions. They have very loud music and a speaker on center court not respecting that there is a quarterfinal going on on court 1. AND THERE IS NO MATCH ON CC. Very bad for the girls and they were highly frustrated during half of second set. I'm not sure the match would've gone the distance if the sound were normal. As I've said before this hall is terrible to play in. Shame on Kremlin Cup:nono So after over 3 hours of play the 18 year old Siniakova wins over Giorgi after a horrible noise inferno in second set. Siniakova has now jumped 42 places and are now virtual #86 :clap:clap

I used to follow her closely and I thought she had a good future. Little did I know that
she would end up as another journeywoman.
