Keeping track of Maria Sharapova @ the AO 2014

I will continue to post in this thread to keep track of Maria's Progress. It is not my
intention to diss at Sharapova. Anyone can read through all my earlier posts in this thread
and figure out that no "dissing" was done.

There is no need to get so upset - No one forces you to read My Sherona's posts and he/she is hurting no one with them - Take a deep breath and take your anger else where

"GameSetAndMath". Is it no longer valid then? I even gave a like to your above
posting right after I saw it. Now you are getting upset over a civilized comment
as is evident from "may be reading is not your forte".

That sounds upset to me while all My Sherona does is to practice his/her freedom of speech - If you dislike his/her comment all you've to do is to walk away or maybe express your disbelief in a civilized way.

I was doing the same "keeping track" that is the purpose of this thread.
I was talking about her first round opponent, Bethany Mattek Sands and Maria's
Chances against her. I do not see why that does not belong to this thread.

You don't have exclusive rights to keeping track of Maria. I will also do so.

You're free to start a thread about Serena or any other player you may favorite and brag about her great achievements and I'll respect your intentions to cheer your favorite - I think however that a thread solely dedicated to Maria and her fans and with the intention to make Maria fans - in this vast Serena fans forum - happy - YOU should have known better - but hey - you seem to be determined NOT to understand - so what can I say - You go ahead and keep on defending you rude behavior - I'm sure every one else understands the intention of your comment

It's been disabled to prevent a single user deleting threads that other users have contributed to.

Maria has a 5-0 advantage over Bethany Mattek-Sands.

Also, Bethany has never gone beyond 1st round in her entire career at AO.

So, there is no positive history for Bethany either at AO or against Maria, anywhere.

Both Maria and Bethany did not play at all last Fall due to injuries
(Maria - Shoulder and Bethany -Knee).

Maria went all the way upto SF in Brisbane.

Bethany lost in 1st round in the first warm-up, then entered into the qualifying
of Sydney (won 3 matches) and then won two regular matches against tough
opponents (both ranked higher than her; Eugene Bouchard and Aga Radwanska)
and then retired in the 3rd match against Madison Keys due to lower back pain.

Bethany took out Li Na in 2nd round of French open last year. So, big name scalp
is not new to Bethany.

I think it will be an intriguing match to watch considering both are playing
after recent injury lay off. However, both seem to be match ready based
on the tune-ups.

Even if she loses, Bethany will give a tough fight and probably better
fight than any of Maria's second round opponents.

If Maria wins the first round, I think she will breeze through the 2nd round.

But, let us not jump ahead of ourselves.

last match of the night session. Probably will begin at aroun 9 p.m. or so.

Maria Sharapova advanced as expected,
Masha wins 6-3 6-4, as said earlier Mattek-Sands was a tough nut to crack. But now for next round Masha gets Knapp. She is 1-0 against Karin but they haven't played since 2008!

It looks like Maria's path is clear all the way to the quarterfinals except possibly for
a minor test in the form of Alice Cornet. Maria is 1-0 against Cornet, but that victory
was tainted by retirement of Alice.

Alice won the Hopman cup for France playing along with Tsonga. Although Alice
will give a fight, Maria will probably win.

I think it takes a JJ or VA to stop MS now.

No it was pretty empty out there alright. Thought the same thing. Was a terrible match anyway so at the fans saved some money by not shelling out for that travesty. Having missed all the matches after Federer's that was the only one I got to see and it was painfully bad to watch. Tons of double faults, errors and squandered break points.
