According to tennis.com, Potito Starace and Daniele Bracciali are accused of match fixing. Don't tell Nehmeth, he's quite fond of Potato...

Just as curious, it says other players might be involved. Time to blow a whistle, somebody...

Kinda feel sorry for them to be honest. Having read Michael Russell's article on how most non top tennis players barely scrape a living you can imagine it's tempting. They'd do a lot more for the sport to clamp down on doping instead though. Daniel Köllerer received a lifetime ban for match fixing but there's no way they'd have the balls to do that for dopers.

Well, it doesn't cost more to clamp down on both.

But maybe the prize money issue could be addressed, by filtering more down and the top lads taking a cut, but none of this guarantees clean players - as we can see when rich stars dope...

The slams are paying a good bit more to those who lose in the early rounds alright but not sure they earn much at regular events unless they win them but even then it's definitely not enough to do more than break even given the travel expenses week in week out. But they should of course clamp down on both. Lifetime bans for match fixers is just completely double standards though compared to reducing all dopers sentences. I mean which is worse at the end of the day? They're both dishonest.

[split] Italian players in match fixing allegations

match-fixing rears its ugly head again.
This time involving Potato Starch and other Italian Players.
They have solid proof in terms of recorded conversations.

Potato Starch apparently lost the finals of a tournament to Pablo Andujar once as
"he has sold" that match.

As compared to team sports, it is lot easier to indulge in match-fixing in tennis
as it is up to one individual and it is very difficult to distinguish between the situation
of a player genuinely trying to win but loses and a player who intentionally loses
giving the appearance of trying to win.

In Cricket, lot of big name players were involved in match fixing, especially Indian
and Pakistani players. So, we cannot exactly say match fixing usually is only at
lower levels of the sport.
