First double fault from Serena takes us to 30-30. And now it's a break point for Kvitova as I'm typing. A good strong serve erases the break point. Serena seems to have lost her rhythm for a moment after a man in the crowd yelled out in the middle of her serve. That serve went in because she had already hit it probably. It actually effected Kvitova's return I think, and she hit it way out. But then after that Serena seemed to just be out of it for a moment. They've now played 2 deuces, Serena going up 'ad' both times with strong serves. But then on game point Kvitova has come up with good shots to get it back to deuce. But Serena has now just held with 2 strong serves in a row. 2-1 second set.

So rude of that man to yell out like that. He may have been trying to hurt Serena. Or he may have actually been trying to hurt Kvitova (though he would have no reason to yell out it he was trying to hurt Kvitova because Serena is already winning). But either way it just screws with the whole match for a minute. Because then the server has to wonder if that man is going to yell out again while they're serving.

Kvitova is playing better and better. She's getting more returns into play. And she's also getting some help from Serena now who is missing more of her first serves now. But Serena's defense is so good that she's still winning some rallies because she can hang in long enough until Kvitova sends one long or wide. I say all that to say that Kvitova is not playing badly. I don't think she's at the top of her game. But she's probably not far off it but Serena is just playing really amazing tennis today. Serving so well and defending well when she's not hitting an unreturnable. I don't think Kvitova will be able to break back to make this interesting, but I sort of wish she could just so we could see these two really bash the ball back and forth. But I'm not sure Kvitova is capable of measuring the shot enough to keep it in but still bash it. It looked like she was against Radwanska. And she is capable of it against lesser players. But Serena just has so much power behind her shots that Kvitova isn't used to seeing that she struggles to control her shots even more. So she's actually doing really well not to hit every shot out.

Looks like this is done.
Petra has to break, which does not seem likely.

Serena can beat Petra 5 times in a row, I concede.

Well Kvitova held to make Serena serve it out. But Serena of course had no problem doing that. But then, that's how she won the rest of the match, so she'd had plenty of practice. She served SO well. She hit 11 aces and some other unreturnables. And then she got the free points from Kvitova who just put too much on the ball when she could have gotten it in. So all of that gave her the freedom to really go after Kvitova's serve and boy did she ever. Still, she only broke Kvitova 3 times.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Petra can boss Serena in a few rallies, but she's just not athletic enough to challenge Serena on a consistent basis. Hype train rolls out, or will it be back for the final?

Alicia Molik was announcing on tennisTV and when

her co-person likened Serena to Superwoman she

said no, Serena is human, but She should wear a

shirt with a big " S " on it..... Alluding to possible

Super Powers. lol

Petra had a higher First serve % than Serena

and the rest of her stats were not that bad either.

OMG this is going to be so good. Kvitova is playing well. Serena looks like she isn't playing badly. But Kvitova looks like she can really hurt Serena right now.

Hmmm, I guess looks can be deceiving:)

“You know, when I play top players or a Grand Slam winner, such as Kvitova who has such a dangerous game, you’ve got to go in there knowing that anything can happen and I have to be really focused,” Williams said. “That was just what I did.”

“I think that she was really too good,” Kvitova said. “And she had a great serve today. I think it was the big difference between us two. She played well and I need to improve my serve, for sure, to compare [with] her.”

Kvitova served at a great rate, making 72 percent of her first serves, but she won just 57 percent of those points. Against Serena’s return her lefty-serve was rendered innocuous.

“From the baseline I think that we can play good rallies from both sides,” Kvitova said. “But the serve, she can hit almost 200 kilometers [per hour], so I don’t think that my serve can be that fast.”

....:lolz:...so the serve is the only difference...5-0...hopefully next year it will be like 8-0 or 9-0.
