Madison hits hard and harder but something is missing....confidence.She always comes off as a girl who doesnt know where she belongs like she is running away from herself...no matter how many super coaches she hires she will remain mediocre unless she changes her inferiority complex...:popcornshe straddles the fence a lot....:popcorn
I totally agree.

I'm not sure how to explain it. It's almost an X factor. I Was trying to explain this above when I wrote about sloane. People hate her so much they failed to see my point despite that I wasn't defending Her. At very least the differencr between Stephens and keys is that keys doesn't look like she walks into every match like she believes she can and will win. That's an X factor champions must possesses. Not saying it's everything but as of now keys doesn't have it.
I have to say it..:cry...Ithink Madison is more worried about what people will say...she doesnt want to be considered a black girl and is trying really hard to run away from that part of her DNA....once she embraces who she is she will start doing well...Serena and Venus came on the tour with confidence and very quickly were on top...straddling the fence will never work.
What demographic will her agent market her to ....she is silly:popcornshe better be careful that she wont becomes a Lolo Jones character..
That kind of blatant racism shouldn't be allowed here.

I agree, it's a very ignorant and idiotic comment.

While it's not the most eloquent response, it isn't considered racism. He/she is entitled to their opinion no matter how silly it appears to the majority.

Your forum your choice. That kind of venom is what poisons discourse. Just to make a point... Suggesting that any kind of athletic ability or anything connected to it is "part of her DNA" in the same sentence as "considered a black girl" yes that is blatant racism.

Obviously, you don't think it's our choice. We should all just go by your definition, right?

I would have given Serena a B-. She certainly salvaged her year by winning strong in the second half of the year, but those 3 slam losses were certainly disappointing especially when she didn't change her strategy at all to try and do something about it. I gave her a B- because she did win the most titles and she did win big titles. She also lost to Alize Cornet not once, not twice, but what was it 3 or 4 times. I started losing count. I especially hated watching her at the French because that was just one of the most apathetic approaches to a slam I have seen from her. I don't know I just always expect more from any player defending a slam title.

No she did not she retired from a match while she was leading. You can't always be 100% even though you try. Serena is not Sampson she is after all human and like I said she can always be 100% at all times. You should expect the same from all the players not just Serena.

I expect everyone to have his or her off days, but to lose to Alize Cornet more than once this year, well and on surfaces that are Serena's strong suit...I would say the same thing of Sharapova if she lost to some B-lister 3 times in a row.

No obviously I KNOW its your choice otherwise you wouldn't publicly defend it. But it's also your choice to allow me to criticize you for ignoring it. So, is that ok with you dear moderator?

You can ignore it as long as you aren't setting board policy. By the way, I'm an administrator.

A retirement is a loss, so, yes Serena lost 3 times, and yes, she is not Sampson, but 3 inexplicable losses at slams does bring her grade down.

I understand she's an older player, and for older players it harder to bring the motivation day in and day out, but, that does mean her grade should be curved as a result.

I'd give her a B+ personally.
