I'm just saying that I take @Jelenafan's point that sometimes the commentators are flat-out tiring, and it's not like Felix is a newcomer. I'm not slagging Felix, but "he's going to take away a lot of positives" is as tired as it gets. This match was a played like a HC match.
That was my point....his clay game is still in progress? it was played like a HC.....regardless if FFA is a newcomer or not
People have to realize that a lot of players have not been brought up on clay, it is a different beast to play on, that includes FAA.who has not been brought up on clay.

S.finals,
Djokovic v Ruud
Tsitipas v Zverev.....those 2 are probably sick and tired of seeing each other on opposite sides of the net.

I actually bet you're right about the blond "Crown Princes," as @Jelenafan calls them. But they'd better get used to it. I'm going Tsitsipas in that one. As to the other, I'll stay Ruud Awakening and leave it at that. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Not forgetting that Zverev has won Rome before. But that was an odd year. And yes, I think Casper the Ghost will disappear.

For all the talk of the "homogenization" of tennis surfaces (cough..cough...cough...FEDERER fans..cough..cough..cough...) it certainly seems that it only translates one way, dirtballers from South America and Europe seem to improve and even flourish on HC, achieving tangible success. Whereas, North Americans , namely Americans and Canadians still struggle making the transition to red clay.

You have to go back to the Andre Agassi, MIchael Chang and Jim Courier era (when supposedly the red clay was even slower ) to see North Americans who "got" red claycourt tennis.

Can you believe I have never seen a red clay court in the US. @Fiero425 Have you seen or played on any in the US that was red?

As far as I know, the only true red clay is down in Texas! I've only played on that greenish, dirty Har-Tru clay years ago! I lived just a few blocks from one of the biggie "Junior Nat'l events" in River Forest just outside of Chicago! Just walked by, but never played on it! I'll take cement/HC anytime even though it's supposedly hard on the body! I played from early morning into the night for years! :fearful-face: :face-with-hand-over-mouth::shushing-face::face-with-tears-of-joy:

I played on the courts in RF, great courts and extremely slow. That's where I played my clay court match from Hell. I haven't seen the red clay in Texas yet. Thanks for the reply.

I hear they got rid of the red clay in the Houston tournament a few years back.

As a young adult played on red clay courts in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Goodness, I could not hit a winner, the ball kept coming back , so unnerving for a kid raised on California hardcourts.

Things have started to look much better for Novak compared to where he was one month ago. Watched him yesterday against FAA and he looked as sharp as ever. He likes to play in Rome too.

The Young Greek with a Djokovic overhead smash
Makes amends with a decent drop volley at the net

Pam Shriver said he'd better be careful, because he can't afford to lose any more friends. LOL.
