El Dude -- Do you remember Rafa's '09 USO semi against Del Potro? DP won 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 -- a mauling.

You're right. Man, I could do with a good Rafa mauling

Yes, this should not even be counted as a loss in the ATP stats for Rafa. None of his serves
crossed 120 mph. He is visibly affected by injuries.

I hope you're being facetious!

I heard some of it. He was asked about the MP. He said he knew he had to stay aggressive because if he didn't Rafa would take control of that point.

Seems like a neat kid.. shared about his parents, shared about transitioning from juniors and wondering if he'd make it... first time I've ever heard him.

Plays Fognini next... another battle between two equally talented and erratic

Yes... Nadal was not at his best. Perhaps still suffering from his back injury which is effecting his serve.

People were talking about this on tennis.com and it makes sense. Wasn't it meant to be just a simple muscle spasm and therefore short term? So how is it sill an issue now if it was just a spasm? They either misdiagnosed or there's actually nothing wrong now.

Well the finalist should be Roger or Stan now. I hope that one happens! Rafa loses a good amount of points but could win them back in Miami and he is still ahead of last year's pace with the Aussie final.

They'll probably both have wasted all their Hawkeye challenges in the warm-up...

Do you guys know that dog is a rapper. I once listened to him (he was performing live
at some tournament for entertainment) and he was not bad.

He can not only moonball, he can moonlight as a rapper too.

Yeah I saw a clip but the girl singing onstage with him was atrocious. He wasn't that bad though. That said I can't stand Eminem and it was one of his songs he was doing.

Surprisingly, in the end, the Dog wasn't the muppet! Pholks was!
Ralph (Rafa) = Rowlph (Rowlf)...

Good deal of potential points gain for the remaining players now.

Federer has a chance of winning it now! :snigger

He does. And Stan's chance went up, too. As well as Murray's. Djokovic's went through the moon. This will make the potential Swiss QF all the more fraught.

Love to see Stan v2.0 versus Roger v2014, on the mend compared to last year, but older and erratic and yet very hungry to prove he's still in the mix. Should be very interesting. With Rafa's early exit and Roger making it through a tough double tiebreak encounter today he's already proven he's still in the mix in any case.

Rafa doesn't get mauled.

W/ his current level, it's entirely possible against the players I mentioned if their level is high.

And Stan's level is sky high right now

As much as I would like Nole to win this event, based on form Stan is the Man to beat.

The new Stan is only missing Roger's scalp from his collection, I am sure he will want to add that too.

Agree, Stan is very much the favourite based on form at this stage. Remains to be seen how he fares against a guy who's never lost to him should they meet. But we all know that means nothing.

You are wrong. That guy lost to Stan in 2009 Monte Carlo.

And just to restate: Nadal was down 2-5 in the 3rd, and he got it to a TB. He lost to a creative and inspired Dolgopolov, but there is almost (?) no one in the game with more fight.

I see the opposite: If Roger were in-the-mix, he would have taken down Tursunov much more easily and faster, instead of two tiebreaks, over 2.5 hours. I'm not seeing so far the guy who won Dubai.

Stan has beaten Roger before, no?

I think his form is good and he's confident, so he has a great chance. But Nole has a handier draw, and I think he might play himself into form and take this one...

Ah yeah, forgot there was one loss. My apologies.
