The Venue:

Under the watch of Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle (a huge Database company) and one of the world's richest men, Indian Wells has firmly established itself as one of the world's elite tennis venues. The views might not match those of Monte Carlo, but the facilities are state of the art.

The Indian Wells Tennis Garden boasts the second largest tennis stadium in the world with Stadium 1 housing over 16,000 fans and 44 suites. Only Flushing Meadows can boast a higher capacity.

The venue is situated near Palm Springs, California, in the Coachella Valley and has also played host to various artists such as The Who and Andrea Bocelli. It has also hosted NBA pre-season games.

I think this is the first time Osaka is playing in a tourney with #1 seed. Also, she is defending the title here. Also, she has coach issues. So, all these pressures would overwhelm her and expect her to go out before QF stage.

Fun facts at Indian Wells.Martina Navratilova to date, has been the only player to successfully defend her title,28 years ago in 1991.A Top 10 player has won the title just once in the last five years (Simona Halep in 2015).

Nope. She was #1 seed in Dubai and promptly got dismissed by Mlad in her first match.

Excuse me, please. I'm very sorry to be a pain but some of this writing is a bit small for me to read & I've got my spectacles on. Any chance of a slightly larger version for people who don't have 20/20 vision, please?

Fun match coming up between Serena and Vika. I don't know if Vika is in shape to take it, but she's one of the few that challenges Serena. :popcorn

Battle of the 'mothers' .....at this stage with the limited tournaments Vika has played,Serena to win.

^ The first time they play each other as mothers. On International Women's Day. Yes, you have to favor Serena, but it's got a good shine on it, for the day.

I do not like the look of the weather coming IW way, looks like a 'sand storm with very windy conditions'

I don't body-shame, but Serena is carrying a lot of fat on her belly. My worry is for her back. Her power is in her shoulders and legs. But I think she's risking her back, at this age.

Whatever rust on Azarenka, it seems they are still pretty classic against each other.
