baggy had some injuries, his rank went down the toilet I think. he took time off to recover and get properly fit, he has been playing challengers in 2014..now he is back in the top 80 or whatever.

playing the world no1 on center court in a masters tourney will be seen by him as big progress.

I could have sworn I heard something about Bagh retiring 2 years a\go, but he keeps coming back! :nono :cover :puzzled  It's not like he's going to win anything!

Was looking around to find anything about Marcos retiring from tennis, and found nothing. Could one of you provide a link that references this?

It wasn't anything in print! It was heard during the commentary of a match a while back! He obviously didn't retire so what's the big deal? :nono :puzzled :cover :ras:

I thought I has heard something about him retiring as well. Maybe I was imagining it. I do that A LOT. Still, glad he isn't. Always enjoy seeing him in a draw.

Baggy has never been the same player since he got to the final at the AO,after that he was expected to achieve great things, changes of coaches and injuries got in the way.Still when he comes to Australia he has a huge following of fans.BTW a really nice guy to boot.

You two were going on as if it were a fact. I like Marcos and was interested to read about it. There doesn't seem to be any information out there to substantiate the claim. No big deal, just requested the courtesy of providing a link, which is standard practice here.

Neither one of us have said that Bagh is retired. I said the I THOUGHT he is not going to play anymore and Fiero425 said that he heard something about it and I remember to hear something too. Maybe after to have so many injuries, dropping to # 109 in the ranking one year ego (now he is #89) getting married and having a baby he was thinking about it but as we can see he is still playing even that he is far to be the same player he was, that's all

Some good matchups in the men's draw for Sunday!

Krygios vs. Baby Jesus...I mean Federer
Johnson vs. Karlovic
Federer. Nadal, Berdych finally take the court.

yes..not only good for auussie tennis, good for tennis full stop.

we can now see in the near future a gaggle of 18-22 aged blokes to go along with the "middle-aged-guns" of nish/dimitrov/raonic etc..trying to dislodge the top rank players.

Ernie Gulbis recorded his first win of the season. He has been struggling following the injury which hampered his end of the last season.

Belluci lost in the first round for the sixth time (not counting his two DC singles loss).

He has so far lost in the first round of Auckland, Australian Open, three SA clay tourneys and IW.

But, he is not winless this year. He won 2 or 3 matches in Ecuador.

I saw this guy a couple years ago and like Chardy who's struggling, neither seem to get better after a nice showing! They simply disappear and are just fodder for the other pros in the draw! :nono :cover :puzzled :popcorn - They have all the tools and it just doesn't come together for them! That's why it's so hard to watch tennis these days! No lead is safe and they'll find a way to lose; even with match points! It's so sad!
