When was the last time that Roger has won a GS and how old he was?

Carol, Federer won his last exactly three years ago at Wimbledon 2012. He was 30 then.

Thanks Kirijax!

Well, I have to say that Novak is the best player at the present but....how long? I see him moving his shoulder several times, he runs like crazy but her legs seem not to be so strong, he slips too many times comparing with other players and not just on grass but on all surfaces which is a miracle that he has not more ankle injuries. Since 2011 his effort, game improvement and his wish to win is extraordinary but I don't think it's going to last too long, I give him maybe three more GS unless the other players, the youngest or not so young would play badly but I don't think it will be the case

Why is that so unbelievable? Look at Nadal; both have good first 'half' seasons with plenty of AO's, FO's, and Masters wins between them! It's pretty normal for Rafa to go on hiatus after winning his FO's, but for a couple times; the last being 2013! He hasn't been the same player since! With all Nole has done this season with 2 majors and 4 Masters, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a tired summer! Anything after today is gravy IMO! He's been pret' near perfect; burnout can be right around the corner! I've just been so shocked how Nole gets himself motivated, ready, and winning in the fall taking the Asian tour events and another WTF w/o losing a match? Can he match that for a 3rd straight "year-end?" :puzzled  :dodgy:

By throwing Nadal in, you are muddying the waters. While Rafa is traditionally known to fade away in the later half, Novak does not have such a reputation. Based on his game, Novak is supposed to excel on hard courts much better that Wimby, but his results don't match that expectation and hence the surprise.

Which is one of a few reasons I'd never give "GOAT" honors to Nadal; his inability to have consecutive full seasons of great results! It can get embarrassing if I were a Nadal fan to see how ineffectual his game can be in those late season indoor and HC tourneys! The WTF has just been a nightmare; one year ('09) losing all 3 of his RR matches and not qualifying for the semis! How does a GOAT nominee allow that to occur year in and year out; now with horrible Wimbledon results for the last 4 seasons? :cover :eyepop :puzzled :nono

So, this year Novak overthrew the King of Clay from his beloved Terre Battue and also overthrew the King of Grass from his beloved Greener Pastures. :clap :clap

You're twelve months too late on that second part.

Well, in all fairness he did say "this year".

In fairness, you only overthrow someone once unless they get back to their throne. So "overthrowing" Federer took place last year. This year, Novak just defended his throne.

i dunno, it always irritated me that Novak had won Wimbledon at all, but not RG. his movement seems so odd on grass, and clay should perfectly suit his game... and now he has three Wimbledon titels, incl. two in a row - but no RG? i guess a big part of that is owed to Rafa - but then again, it was actually Fed who stopped him at RG at his very best (and who now twice failed to beat him at his own supposed home turf).

then again, who would've thought that Wimbledon would be Andre's first slam title?

so what to make of it? by now, i have to concede that Novak is pretty f'ing good at SW19, and he'll probably win (at least one) more there.

Impossible to say. Depends on when one (or more) of the youngsters will take a step up. As we speak the only real dangers for Djokovic are Murray and "I played the match of my life" types like Wawrinka and Cilic which are hard to predict and may come from anywhere. I don't think that Nishikori, Raonic or Dimitrov will ever be of the level of a Djokovic, Federer, Nadal or even Murray. Not on a consistent basis anyway, although they may be able to win a slam at some point. That's not a criticism really. The big three/four were always gonna be a hard act to follow.

Haven't had a chance to watch any of the SF's or Finals yet, but I would think his Wimby success will depend on how he does at RG. The three years he won it, he was coming off a pretty disheartening RG and had something to prove by rebounding at the next available slam. If he ever claims RG, he may find it more difficult to get up again so quickly for another slam (extra week or not).

I also think the draw will play a large factor. If he has to face a few big servers along the way (KA, Ivo, Milos, etc), he could be pushed or possibly upset.

All told, I would say he's good for another grass slam or 2 depending on the factors I mentioned.

And even that he has 14 GS and multiples MS, can you imagine if he would have played every year month by month how many more titles he would have? :eyepop
If I would be Federer I would be embarrassing reading some of his fans comments :cover :nono  :puzzled

Not nearly as embarrassing as yours would be for Rafa if he read English.

Rafa may own Roger, but come on; overall Federer's had the greater career and more consistency year in and year out! There's no comparison; even at 14 majors and a ton of Masters 1000 win! Rafa's being challenged by Nole in a lot of ways and only time will tell if he'll surpass all those numbers; well on his way with 9 majors (5 behind) and 24 Masters (3 behind)! :clap  :dodgy:

Rafa numbers are closer to Federer than Novak to him, and that's what bother you so much, isn't :laydownlaughing :lolz: :nono
