Tomorrow, we have battle of young guns in Hopman Cup.

It is Tomic vs. Raonic.

Can Tomic pull off an upset in home soil?

I found the answer to my own question. Hopman cup has a total prize money
of $1,000,000. I am not clear on the details of the distribution.

Each team gets some base money and there is some money allotted for
each group win. Finally, there is some special money for the runner up team and
the winning team.

I don't know the exact details of these amounts.

That is not a bad pay day (considering players get a guaranteed six
practice matches and possible two more matches).

This is not exactly an exhibition tournament. The only difference between this
tournament and other tournaments is that this is organized by ITF and not by
ATP/WTA.

Apart from the four Grand Slams, the ITF organizes Davis Cup, Fed Cup and
Hopman Cup.

It is unbelievable Poland is leading despite JJ withdrawing and some unknown substituting
for him. Poland's only match left is against Australia who have not won anything so far.

Similarly on the other side France is leading. Their only match left is against Spain
who have not won anything so far.

So, at this time it looks like we are headed to a France vs. Poland final.

France will take that one.

Poland has now officially made it to the finals with a clean record of 3-0 in
round robin. They just proved that they don't need JJ to win.

Samantha Stosur managed to lose all her singles matches so far.

In 2013, she won one match in all of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne combined.
May be she needs to change her citizenship so that she can do well down under.

As I expected France won the finals of Hopman Cup. Tsonga won his singles match.
Cornet lost hers. But they together won the mixed doubles.

Good start of the year for Tsonga with a win over Murray and then triumphing at
Hopman cup. He now has an exhibition match against Fed in Melbourne on 8th
January.

Hope Tsonga has a good year this time and makes it to WTF.
