Very hard to pick a winner.

This is where you go with your heart!

The Czechs have a very potent team. The Americans too.
How about the Canadian team?

Looks like Group A is the tougher. All the players are strong, even if not their countries best, but with few exceptions. In Group B, Spain could have fielded a tougher pair, and I don't think France will get far. Stepanek is getting on, but he's so crafty in team play, so he and Kvitova could be dangerous. They could take the US.

Should be a really fun Hopman Cup. Excellent field.

Spain - Tsonga and Cornet

I thought I read that Mars Bars had signed up

to come out of retirement for this.

That is an interesting bunch of teams. But, Hopman cup is typically won
and lost by females. Hence, I would expect Poland to win it.

I would say it will either be Poland, US or Canada.
Narrowing it down to 3 isn't exactly picking a winner, is it?
I guess I shouldn't say anything since I didn't even make that attempt!

US won't win it. Sloane does not play doubles well at all, and given her results lately, her singles game will be crap in 2014. The Czechs or Poland takes it. Nod to the Czechs, though

Mods, is it possible to get this entire thread cross-posted to Men's Tennis Forum too.
This is one of the very few tournaments that kind of attracts the attention of followers
of ATP that do not follow WTA seriously and also followers of WTA that do not follow ATP
seriously.

I'll be rooting for the Czechs. It's going to be difficult though. In the team competition the doubles are usually great factor and Petra is not very good double player. Hopefully Radek is able to teach her something. Poland, US and Australia will be the main obstacles for them.

Jerzey Janowicz from Poland has pulled out of the Hopman Cup due to a foot injury. From what I have read it isn't too serious.Just a precaution before the AO 2014.I havent read who will be his replacement.

Grzegorz Panfil (ranked no 287) will be Jerzey's replacement in the Hopman Cup for Poland

In that case, I get to pick again as my original pick of Poland has no chance now.
I think Canada will take it. This Canadian girl Eugenie is going to become a phenom.

Tommy Robredo has withdrawn citing a arm injury
He will be replaced by Daniel Munoz-De La Nava (ranked 194)

This means two teams lost before the event begins.
BTW is there any money involved in this tournament? DO they
get prize money for winning matches etc or is it just for
fun/name.
