I think very definitely, it is better for Fed that Man won instead of Perseus in R16. Man seems to be back in Stanimal mode. But, he has a huge baggage with a H2H of 22-3 . However, all three of Stan's wins are on clay, twice in MC and once in RG. Their H2H is actually 4-3 when restricted to Clay.

Stan is coming back from injuries. On top of that he played a long match today and will have less time to recover.

Anyway, who you got?

Incidentally, Fed's lost loss in RG was at the hands of Stanimal and at exactly the same stage (QF) in 2015.

I don't believe the 5 set match will be an issue for Stan at all. The man just seems to get stronger and stronger. If anything that will only make him more dialled in. I fear we are inevitably heading towards another Nadal- Djokovic final. Ironically I actually believe Roger represents a tougher challenge for Rafa than Stan at this stage but I would favour Stan over Roger in this match. If Roger can take him out in a quick 3 sets and the weather conditions are damp and heavy then maybe Roger has a non-zero chance. But that's all ifs and maybes...

@GameSetAndMath , unfortunately there is still one possibility to add in your poll -- not to mention the ones including aliens and alternative realities -- which is disqualification/default during the match (as happened in the Nalbandian x Cilic Queen's final). Sorry if someone already pointed that out in other threads and you chose not to include it for some reason.

Stan is stronger, but Roger is a smarter, more composed player. And Stan's strength has to be reduced, after his last round. Stan is not going to hit Roger off the court in 3, even though he'll want to. So the longer it goes, the more it favors the old geezer, ironically. If Stan's knees are good, I think he'll press Roger, but I don't think he'll win.

I included them in my previous poll (as it was fresh in my memory, thanks to Nick). I forgot this time.

May be we should add one more saying: GOAT by Mirka's heckling. :lol6:

It really looks like stars aligned for Fed to reach SF. I still can't count out the Man and what he did in last match was impressive.

QF is still a great result for Stan. He came in here struggling, but silenced all the doubters with last match, including myself. I like him a lot. I had this wild dream he could achieve a career slam with Wimbledon title remaining for him still on to do list. I'll keep dreaming for a bit more, though the grass is his weakest surface and chances of winning Wimby for him are really low.

Fed in 4 sets.

To me its sure that the Maestro will win this, he is smarter, the better player and rested. We didnt see the new Federer against Stanislas on clay yet. So i dont give much on their previous meetings on dirt. I would pick federer also against Stefanos by the way. I expect some great matches today.

If Fed wins the 1st set I believe it will be over in 4 max. The clay had been Wawrinka 's edge but I believe is rested a smarter and more strategic player who will try and exploit Stan's weaknesses regardless of the clay. And yes 5 hours will make a difference.

I am picking Roger in four.

While both had knee surgeries, Stan's is more recent one. That coupled with a five hour match should take something off Stan physically. Also, this would be an ideal way for Roger to test out his rejuvenated drive backhand before meeting Ralph, where it will certainly be needed if he wants to stand a chance.

Having said that all, I would not be surprised if Stan blows Roger off court also. We know at this age, Roger is susceptible to heavy balls and hard hitters (most recent memory is how he could not do anything against Thiem at IW who was hitting big on both wings and Stan is capable of doing exactly the same thing, especially on clay when he will have time to line up his shots).

Roger really needs to take time away from Stan and play huge variations to prevent giving any rhythm to Stan.

To take time away from the opponent and play his whole repertoire has to be the plan in every important match of the Maestro. Especially on clay. When all this works together and he stays mentally strong he can put the bull down ...... maybe :).

Impossible to call this one. It really depends on which Roger turns up. I can see a case for Roger in 3 or 4, but that relies on Roger playing a game where he denies Stan much rhythm and makes him run up and down. But Roger could easily play into Stan's strength and make him run side to side, and I would predict Roger would lose in that scenario. Just depends on which Federer turns up.

Yes i also think it all depends on Roger, that is better than the other way around. The circumstances so far favor him, Stanislas played much more.
