Ferrer seems to be finding his clay form. I think he'll take Cilic. I mentioned this in the rankings thread, but he's back in the top 10 today, and if he wins the tournament, he'll go back to #8, over Berdych and Raonic.

I also thought GGL would have given Ferrer a sterner test. Maybe David is getting healthy and playing better now. Stan shouldn't have any problems in his match. Don't know how smart it is to play right up to the start of RG but he really didn't have many matches on clay prior to this tournament.

Smart money is on Stan - dominates the H2H, better clay court player and on a 9 match winning streak in finals.

That surprised me, but Ferrer is on a downward trajectory IMO. 7/5 7/5 Cilic

Joined by Stan, who was extended by Rosol.... taking it in 3 - 6/2 4/6 6/3

Agreed, Ferrer is done. Generation federer is now almost completely going into retirement. Only the old man still seems to be competitive.

That top 10 for Ferrer lasted just ever briefly, because Cilic is now holding that spot and he will be the one who replaces Gasquet in the top 10 comes next week.

Stan played in Geneva last year as well, and we know it impacted his performance in the slam afterwards. It was actually a boost.

Stan is the proverbial wildcard at RG... Nobody has a clue what he's going to bring... much like last year.
