Boy, this is embarrassing. He loses the very first match on clay in his home country in a ATP250 tourney to a qualifier. That is quintuple whammy.

p.s. They should actually remove him from the list of those with puncher's chance to win USO instead of giving him 3% chance.
My point was that Thiem sucking today does not have much to do with the perceived pressure of playing at home. There was an emoji after suicide remark .
I don't know, you gave him a lot of shit above for losing in Austria. (The bolded was yours, not mine.) And I'm not clear that an "emoji" makes up for making crass remarks about suicide, but only you can decide that for yourself. Seems that you don't like Thiem, though.

When a one handed backhand man loses to a two handed backhand creature, it is always dishonor. In most cases suicide is the only honorable thing to do.

Although Thiem "should" be considered the second best player currently on clay, he seems that he is not bullet proof and is upset sometimes.
Losing to Klizan is not exactly the biggest catastrophy, because Klizan current ranking is deceiving, he is a lot better than his 100+ ranking would suggest.
He was ranked as high as 24 and more importantly he had 3 titles on clay one of them being a 500 event in Hamburg.

By the way now that Domi is out, Klizan is the most accomplished player left in this event.

All four guys who pulled the upsets yesterday were able to win yet again, therefore Istomin, Jarry, Munar and Klizan are in the SF.
There is no seed left.

I HATE Istomin (actually I don't, but he also beat my fellow Brazilian on the final round of qualifying, after being MP down). So I will hate him for three minutes.

I am surprised to see how well Istomin is doing. I know his ranking is usually higher than the current one, which is 95 at the moment, but also he has never been more than an average 40-60-ish type.

In the end NextGen. Players are shut out and two veterans, Istomin and Klizan will play in the final.
This is a very rare case on the tour to have two qualifiers to dispute the title.

I was surprised to see that these two have never played each other before.

Easy win today for Martin Klizan, 6-2,6-2 over Istomin.
He clinches his 6 title, 4 on clay.
