By reaching SF at RG and QF at Madrid and Rome, Roger has already accumulated more than 1000 clay points this year (1080 and counting to be exact).

I’d rather he skipped clay and play Stuttgart to win another title. Points aren’t as important to his legacy.

If he is wise, Stuttgart TD should be thinking of whom to give the WC he saved for Fed. There is no chance that Fed will play there after reaching SF at RG (not to mention that before the start of RG itself Roger publicly announced that he will not play in Stuttgart; But, the TD said he will anyway save one WC for Roger).

Why is getting to number 2 worth anything? Breaking 109 titles record would bolster his goat status

Does this look right, as far as his 2019 likely schedule is concerned? Or are we thinking he'll play one of Canada and/or Paris? I'm guessing no to Canada but maybe to Paris.

AUSTRALIAN OPEN QF
Dubai W
Indian Wells F
Miami W
Madrid QF
Rome QF
ROLAND GARROS SF+
....
Halle
WIMBLEDON
Cincinnati
US OPEN
Shanghai
Basel
World Tour Finals

He will not play Canada. He will play Bercy if he is in the running for YE#1 and not otherwise.

Hopefully Federer shakes of this disastrous loss better than his 2008 loss which resulted in two other mental lapses(W2008,AO2009 chokes) after that loss.

This wasn’t a disastrous loss, and he knows that better than all of us. And I love his attitude of moving on. That’s one of the ways in which he’s such a champion: looking forward.

2008 Wimby was a direct consequence of Ralph being in his head due to 2008 RG. 2009 Ao was mostly due to the pressure of reaching Pete.

Anyways clearly the idiot will never learn a damn thing. It's like he wants to be passed up and quickly forgotten. 16 matches including 6 best of 5 on clay in 6-7 weeks before Wimbledon. It'd be fine if he was 27

Oh, please. 9-7 in the 5th isn’t because Rafa was in his head.

He lost the first two sets due to Ralph being in his head after 2008 RG match. He lost the final set due to darkness. This 2008 Wimby has been debated for such a long time, I am even bored to talk about it again.

Or, he was simply outplayed, as Roger had done to him in previous Wimbledon finals.

Then why did you bring it up?

He lost the final set due to darkness?? How about tiredness in his shoulder. He didn't get broken due to low light, and he didn't hit that tired shot into the net because he couldn't see. As to the first two sets, he had no reason not to think that the grass belonged to him. Rafa was quicker out of the gate in the first. In the 2nd, Roger had a break lead, but then, perhaps, when Nadal began running roughshod over him, maybe he caved in. I'll give you that one could have been mental. But there were 5 sets and many opportunities for Roger to win that match on grass. You over-simplify it in the extreme. It was a great match, and Rafa won it. Stop with the excuses.

I did not bring it up. Grandslam brought it up.
And Darth brought it up, too, at least on some thread this week. Point is, you guys latch onto it and then reach for the excuses.

Yes because Rafa tards act like Federer was great that match. The guy played well beneath himself throughout the match and was ridiculously bad the first couple sets. Roger playing bad was a common occurrence that year. And of course there was a mental aspect after the RG beatdown. Roger barely won a big point until the 3rd set TB. The Rafa fan argument is basically Roger was amazing based on some points in a couple TB's. He certainly didn't impress first two sets or the 5th for that matter. It may have been a great match but Roger stunk. Novak lost the match today 7-5 in the 5th, does that automatically mean he played great?
