This is kinda like a traffic cop seeing 15 cars doing 70mph at a 55mph zone but deciding to pull over the 16th. one. It happens...Every now and then they will warn someone. Not much of a controversy for me.

I can see that. Still I think they should try and change the mentality of the players in general. EVERYBODY is carrying towels and toweling off at ridiculous moments (being served an ace and going for your towel?).

It came to a point where I was seeing more toweling off than actual tennis. It should be enforced as a courtesy to the spectators, they are paying the bills after all.

that routine where rafa after a change of ends he slowly ambles..erm I mean walks back past the baseline with TWO towels, and he wanders from one side to the other to give diff ballkids a towel each, then he wants about 3 tennis balls placed on his wand, he inspects them for a bit before selecting one......

.......then its almost time to serve.....but wait..........................rafa has his pre-serve nose/arse/hairdo routine to go through...

meanwhile the player at the other end of the court has retired from tennis completely.

The umpiring is very inconsistent, but that is pretty much applicable to any sport. Still, Federer is 100% correct, but sometimes the aura of the stadium and the status of a player can really impact the way an umpire, well, umpires.

In which case they shouldn't be umpires.

I'm a huge Rafa fan, as most of you know, but I, too, think he abuses the rules on a regular basis, and shouldn't get away with it, especially when others don't. If the umpires are afraid, for whatever reason, to enforce the rules, then get them out of there, and bring in people who aren't.

There must be a pretty good reason that those daring to enforce the rules are not brought in.

Prediction: Pascal Maria will be the umpire for the final, and he will give Rafa at least 2 violations, maybe more.

That's Mastoor's favorite umpire, no? Where is he by the way?;)

Back under his rock. Licking his wounds, no doubt. Only resurfaces when he feels he can puff out his chest. Then complains that our site is too "anti-No1e." As Tammy Wynette said: Stand by Your Man.

It must be said that Mastoor seemed to have seen some issues in Nole's game at Australia and wasn't afraid to say it. It might be the only time I've seen him say a bad word about his boy. Then that very day he went out and stunk up the place vs. Stan.

Yup. He wasn't hailing him as the next pope like some of the WTA posters and was giving constructive criticism.
