I saw Federer's girls at the match and almost fell out of my chair. How old are they now? I was thinking they were three or four years old and they looked school age. The commentator said that one of them cried to see her dad back on court doing what he does best. Unbelievable.

Came on here to see what y'all are saying about my man Roger. Some of you will remember that I am a FedFan to the end!
Hello to all I used to spar with in years past :) Last year was very boring for me, haha!
Hoping of course to see Roger go all the way and add to his GS total! Go Roger!:pompoms:

I like his positive take after the break. People say he's got tough draw, he says it's a great draw because he is in the draw. And tough to come back after 6 months? he says he hasn't played for 6 months while others haven't played for 6 weeks, so it's not much advantage for them.

Great mindset I'd say!

He played OK last night and I expect him to get by Round 2. Big one will be Berdych in Round 3. Good attitude though like you say.

Fed says he will play Dubai, Indian Wells and Miami.

Doesn't know what he'll do in the clay court season... play a little or a lot.

On grass... Stuttgart, Halle and Wimbledon.

After that... he'll just see...

Fed's proven once and for all that as long as he's hungry you can't count him out of any tournament. And it's awesome that he still wants to play for at least 3 more years.

Funny how things change. I remember arguing even last year that it was crazy to write him off. I heard a stat recently. In the last 6 slams that Roger has participated in, he's played more matches than anyone else.... including Novak. Crazy right?

^ That is crazy but when you think about it his results in those 6 slams have been QF, F, F, SF, SF and W. I know it pales in comparison to his 23 SF's in a row during his prime but making 5 straight SF's when he's played is pretty amazing at age 34-35.

In many ways it is one of his most exceptional results. Wonder what Novak and Rafael have done in the same span?

I ended up watching the highlights of the 2015 Fedal final -- I actually forgot that they played the final, I had something like quarters or semis in my mind (Nadal was a bit down the rankings so I reckon it was possible). So it is not only two straight wins over Nadal, but two straight finals... but I mention this for a different reason: the difference in level between this and the AO final is immense. It seems like two other guys...

I wrote him off after the Raonic loss at Wimbledon last year. Up until then I thought he had another in the tank. I never gave him a chance at the Australian... least of all after a 6 month layoff.

^Yup, I remember. I was a bit fatalistic as well, downgrading my expectations to more of a "enjoy the ride" thing. But I did feel that as long as he continued getting to semis and finals he simply couldn't be written off. I remember the number of threads where people were assigning higher probabilities to lesser players and I kept saying.. come on now, this guy is still getting to finals, how can they stand a better chance? Glad he's proved he's still got it! One more US and one more Wimbledon would do me nicely!
