I think she could have a good AO Sunday. She has won it 5 times, so she knows how to deal w/ the conditions. I think her off-season preparation will tell the tale if she's ready for a GS run down under. It also appears whatever issue she and Patrick had must have been resolved as she was seen hugging and celebrating w/ him after the win on Sun.

Apparently after the Wimbledon loss, Patrick told Eurosports that he and Serena decided they need a mini break up to assess where they both were at in the partnership. So he did his thing and she did hers, and they reconvened renewed and with new goals ready to move forward.

Are you saying that they are back together as a couple?

No. I'm not saying that. I meant whatever issue they had professionally has been resolve. And Sunday has so graciously answered the question.

Thanks

It might also explain some of Serena's emotions around Wimbledon and why Patrick hadn't heard from her in a couple days when that whole debacle happened. It might also explain why she was so stubborn about playing.

I wonder if Serena will put in more effort at the French next year especially given that there is now 3 weeks between it and Wimbledon. I certainly hope she does.

I'm really hoping to just see Vika get in a lot of match play and built her confidence back in some big matches. I think the US Open proved for her that the thing she needs most is day in and day out match play to get back to her high level of play.

I would like to see Bouchard shake off late summer letdown. I'm so nervous that she's on the cusp of letting her Wimbledon loss become a mental block.

I mean, in an ideal world, I would love to see Kvitova put a bow on her season... I know that's a tall order.

It would also be really nice to see Wozniaki back up her really great summer with some good results in the fall. I really want to see this version Wozniaki stay around!

I would like to see Caroline continue like she has been doing since Eastbourne and if possible win another tournament before the season is over. I would also like to see her qualify for the YEC, but that won't only depend on her but also on how the other contenders will do. What I'm worried about is that marathon though. I'm not convinced that it's a good idea for a tennis player to run three and a half to four hours (or however long it will take her) on concrete and pavement.

I also wish Li Na a successful comeback in her home tournaments and I hope that Simona will do well to end her season on a positive note.

I will be interested to see who is motivated this fall. I mean Serena has talked about not necessarily focusing on the smaller events and mostly the Slams from this point forward. It will be interesting to see if she means this fall as well.

I imagine if Serena defends Beijing she has YE #1 on lock.

Serena would definitely want YE #1 this year even if it means playing smaller events.

For the record, I do think the personal relationship is over. That could be why they needed a break professionally to determine if Serena wanted to continue to work w/ him.

Patrick made it sound like it was mutual the temporary break up. I think they both needed to rework where that partnership needed to go.

I think that is why she added Wuhan to her schedule to add points.

I mean... I would imagine adding an event that small probably had more to do with appearance fees than points! ;)
