Yes, I get it is not for you, and that's fine - but why do you need to attack and insult people for enjoying things that you don't enjoy? That's all I'm saying. And yes, fair enough.

And I feel the need to point it out in the same way that if I saw someone pissing in a pool that I enjoyed swimming in, I'd confront them.

Lol! First of all I'm not sure I insulted anyone Mr 'protector of the people'.

But let's get to the heart of the matter... I could tell you that your phoney stats (or interpretation) were very much like someone crapping in a pool to me, which is what forced me to confront you and challenge the basis of your pontifications. If I'm just pissing in the pool, it's nice and invisible, but you were leaving floaters.

But I'm trying to be a better person now, I'm going to try really hard to look away :) I suggest you do the same!

It all depends on how motivated the guy is. I remember the look in his eyes during those years where he would kill puppies just to be included in the same conversation with Roger and Rafa. When he finally WAS a part of that conversation, those couple of years where he was darn near unplayable, that hunger was still there. Injury or not, I have not seen that look since he won RG. With a growing family, place in history intact, it will all come down to how bad he wants it. Injuries come and go, bad form come and go. It is the hunger.

I agree. That's what I'm wondering about too. I think he and Roger are quite friendly these days. He should talk to him about how he's transitioned and managed family and fatherhood while maintaining his motivation. Although I rather suspect each individual has to find it within themselves. For me, he has to show us something by Wimbledon next year or I'm going to start seriously doubting if he'll ever have it again..

Agreed with you and Murat. Also, he's got Agassi to talk to about that, who had a family in his twilight years. I'm not sure the what the cut-off would be to deciding that Novak still wants to be in the game, but I think we'll all be looking at how he reemerges from this lay-off, even at the AO, though we'll surely give some grace to find his game again, if it's not immediately apparent.

Do you read what you write before hitting reply? You insult me in one paragraph, then say you're trying to be a better person in the next. I don't know what to say, except there are professionals that can help you! :lol6:

Now the irony is that I just noticed you had sent me a PM back in July which I only just now read, which basically was an olive branch about how you weren't meaning to be antagonistic and how my usage of stats was worthy of discussion...yet now you're saying that they're "phoney" and my interpretation is "crapping in a pool."

Can you guys just take it to PMs, at this point? It's techy-ness for no reason, and it's boring the rest of us. Chest-bump it out amongst yourselves, please. And @El Dude: if you can't be bothered to read your PMs including an olive branch, that's on you.

Moxie, I haven't been on this site as much lately because of some real life problems that make tennis less interesting and pressing, so haven't checked PMs. But thanks for the public chastising, ironically right after you told us to take it to PMs.

To be honest, I'm also growing tired of this place as the noise (squabbles) is starting to outweigh the signal (interesting conversation). I'll probably just take a step back, as I'm finding less and less motivation to come here.

I'm sorry if you take it as a public chastising. We stay moderator free here, but just try to keep it all civil.

Boy Otm! You must really love me! You sit around all day waiting to compose a response to all my posts. I'm practically blushing at all the attention! :lol6: Keep it up :hoops:

Otm :lol3: (know what that stands for?

You're trying to conceal anger.

I'm not sure I insulted anyone

The word "ridiculous" is insulting.

Not sure how long it's going to take him to find his groove (I suspect not much). but he'll be winning slams again. No doubt about it.

Actually, ridiculous can mean insanely good. Just ask Robbie Koenig.

I wasn't talking about the world "ridiculous" in terms of general usage. My point was that the context in which @Federberg used the word was insulting.

I don't think it's a given but I do think he will come back to a level similar to 2012-2014 or just below. That may be enough to win a couple more. I don't think he's going to completely fade away. That'd make no sense to completely lose all competitive fire for good. Pretty ridiculous that he lost a lot of it after just 12 slams when you had the other two with more.
