it is critical that ESPN analysts refrain from bias and unwarranted speculations
it is very important. i am personally sick and tired of stinky biased news.
hope that Serena will show some good results at the US Open :)

OK, here is my take on this. I think too much race card is being played here.
I believe Evert and Shriver would have reacted in the same way if some other
white player had behaved on court in such a disoriented manner.

This is not to say that the suggestion that Serena was on drugs is true.
I don't know whether it is true or not. I hope it is not true.

However, unlike you are medical expert knowing different kinds of
weird ailments, the first reaction of an ordinary person (including a commentator
or professional tennis player) would be to think that Serena is on some kind
of drugs. We all have to realize here that we are not talking about poor play
here, we are talking about having basic control over your motor action.
To think that a 17 time GS champion will enter the court lacking basic
control over motor action is difficult. The only immediate suspicion would
be that she does not have control over motor action as she does not have
control over her mind.

I don't have any problem over Evert's and Shriver's initial reaction.
What I have trouble is with their dishonesty is not owning their initial
reaction the next day. The next day, Evert was saying that she did not
mean to suggest Serena was on drugs while she clearly suggested.
Instead she should have just come out open and said that yes, she
suggested and she could be wrong as she is not aware of all kinds
of ailments.

Instead, they took a damage control operation of putting a
black guy in the midst and making him say various things which
they themselves did not want to say directly.

This is the problem with the US Society. Hell bent on so
much political correctness. Does not allow people to make mistakes.
Does not allow open expression of feelings on difficult issues.
This is why real progress on these issues is not achieved.

Not true at all. When Victoria fell out at the AO a couple of years ago not one negative word was spoken against her---- NOT ONE-- they were very sympatic towards her.

Not comparable at all; Victoria did not look disoriented missing hand to eye coordination
and so there was no innuendo or suggestion about drugs in her case.

But Victoria's MTO was highly questionable and she got nicely booed by the crowd
and also so many articles were written complaining about her gamesmanship. I am
not agreeing with that gamesmanship. I do remember that the commentators in ESPN
took issue with that gamesmanship. However, they did not suggest that she was
on some drugs or drunk or anything close to that. If they have suggested something
like that, I would have thought the commentators were on drugs.

You are trying to make everything a racist phenomena.

Wait - GSM said that "Victoria's MTO was highly questionable and she got nicely booed by the crowd and also so many articles were written complaining about her gamesmanship."

You're saying Serena's was the same thing?

I think evidently, it wasn't. It was clearly different. You're trying to shoehorn stuff in here that doesn't fit...
