Phew what a 'drama filled' match it had everything...Cornet finally prevailing 63 3rd set to win the match

It's strange how the Flipper would win these kinda matches a year or so ago but this year and late last year, she is losing every match. Dropping in the ranking too, she is now down to #64

I am looking ahead to tomorrow's playing schedule with some really good match ups

I am surprised to see Carla playing,I thought she may withdraw, due to her neck injury, she said she could hardly serve, reason she had to withdraw from the final at Antwerp.

I always have a problem with things like this. I know I don't know all of the details, but if you are hurt enough to forfeit a final, I think it's best to drop out of whatever you have planned the next week. Is there some sort of penalty now for dropping out? I had trouble with Federer dropping out of the WTF final but then was playing Davis Cup, but that was for the final round of one of the last big trophies he had never won so I gave him a pass but it still doesn't look all that good.

Well I too dont know all the details,I read that Carla had a neck injury and could not serve, the reason she forfeited the match,no there isnt any penalty in place if you have to forfeit a final regarding a injury.

Hmmmm!
Dani victorious in Tailand, Simo started the year on a stutter. Do I smell an upset here?
You bet!

Venus Williams win over Belinda Bencic extends her winning streak to 16 matches in a row.
Williams 16-match winning streak in Dubai dates back six years-it began with back to back titles in 2009 and 2010 and, after missing the tournament the next three years, another title run in 2014.

From the WTA Website,16th February.

No penalty for withdrawing from the final. There could be a penalty at the next tournament if they withdraw and don't cite an injury.

Thanks. I thought I had heard about some injury-related penalty before but couldn't remember how it goes. Same rules for the ATP?

Every time I look at a women's draw, Svetlana Kuznetsova always catches my attention. Still plugging away at 29 years old. Two Slams, 16 tour titles, and an Australian Open doubles title is a pretty good career. She's had it a bit rough with four 1st round losses in the last five Slams but she's always dangerous. She's playing Kerber in the 2nd round.

Way weaker field in Pattaya, Simona runs "rosies" around Daniella!
