Odds are that his H2H vs Federer will continue to improve as long as 32 and up Federer keeps playing a prime (not peak) Djokovic. The fact that Federer at his age is still meeting Djokovic in SF and Finals speaks volumes.

But H2H is only 1 fact and overrated by many people. It may tell one something with regards to specific matches and match-ups, especially when the margin is big, but it's not so important in terms of overall performance. Chelsea may lead Manchester UTD. 21-19 in their H2H, since 2000, but when Manchester UTD wins the league championship 7 times during that same time, versus 3 for Chelsea, that H2H doesn't mean so much.

Nikolay Davydenko can continue to hold his H2H edge on Rafael Nadal, but you'll never convince me that Kolya is the better player overall.

Respectfully,

I get your point, and agree about the Davydenko/Nadal H2H, for example, but many players still don't (and may never) have an even H2H with Roger.

Yes, he's 32, but he's still capable of beating the majority of the field, and will therefore hold an edge over them in the H2H.

I enjoy Kohli's unique style - still on serve at 4-5. Barring a hiccup, Tomas should win this in two.

One thing that sometimes fails to be considered: "prime-Fed" got a very good head start on their h2h against a developing player. http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=D643&oId=F324

Berd comes through 7-5 7-5 over a very formidable Kohls. Hopefully he won't fold like a cheap tent against either Fed or Novak tomorrow.

If it's Novak (the more likely opponent), Berdych will lose, probably in straights. If it's Roger, Berdych has a good shot at it, but Tomas is so mentally fragile you never know.

Tennis Channel is cruel. After Berdych's nice win against Kohli, they show a rerun of him imploding against Novak. :nono

Perhaps I've been watching too much Doctor Who lately, but are you sure your TV isn't broadcasting from the near future?

Nole takes a 3-1 lead, but Fed has a chance to get it back on serve.

Novak is hitting the ball really really well. Roger has to hope his level drops off

Nole looks comfortable, weathered the fightback fifth game, hitting crisp. Best of 3 format means this could be nasty. Crowd are all Federer...

My theory of head-to-head between two players is that it may contain as many
as 4 different parts.

H2H-I -------- P1, P2 both in prime time.
H2H-II -------- P1 at prime, P2 is not in prime.
H2H-III ------- P1 is no longer in prime, but P2 in prime.
H2H-IV ------- Neither P1 or P2 in prime.

The "prime" should nto be confused with being at "peak".

Even when comparing two players (as opposed to worrying about
championships and titles etc), the only relevant H2H is is H2H-I.

For many pairs, H2H-IV will be nonexistent as one of them would have
retired. The other three are ususall possible and real when you take
two players with an age difference of 5 to 10 and who go through
different cycles at the same page. When P1 is at prime, P2 may be
developing (it should count in H2H II), then there will be some
perios when both are at prime (goes in H2H-I) and then P1 may
become senile and P2 might continue to be in prime (goes in H2H III).

Yo Bobbay! Fed is playing really well too. Serving better and not too many shanks, yet.
