Many multi faceted multi talented people are destroyed by over thinking.

Very true. The person most people doubt is themselves & that causes demotivation. I know there's a danger in not thinking enough but thinking too much can confuse you & cloud your judgement too as you don't always think the same way about things depending on your mood at the time.

In my case, I come up with the ideas for stories, poems, songs & more innovative pieces spontaneously & have to get them down before I forget them. If I don't & I end up racking my brain to try to remember them, they don't seem as good as the original ideas or I forget the best parts.
