I found this article in the Argentine press, which is a little more optimistic and specific, from the last 2 days.  He's says he's hoping for a January or February come-back start, if all continues to go well.  The article also mentions that he's now ranked #579 in the world.  I hope he took the protected-ranking.

No idea really. I know he expects to return this year but I haven't heard any dates mentioned.

I watched Del Potro playing qualifers at Apia International,Sydney where he received a wild card.He was defeated in the s/finals.He is still slicing his bhand.I spoke to him at Apia a few years back,when he received a wild card into the main draw,coming back from his first wrist surgery,he gave me soo much of his time,he has to be one of the nicest guys on tour.Sad to say I dont think we will see him back to his best,I mean what other player has had 3 wrist surgeries,anyway I am keeping positive.
