He could have easily won more than the prize money by losing the match and informing folks ahead of time.

You seem to be an exception, you tend to remember things.
I also sort of remember these things in the back of my mind, as I indicated in my previous comment about Cinderella: I said his RG success would be a one time off & we would not hear about him any more.
I guess I need to adjust my attitude now, and accept that jewelled gown & glass slippers others have dressed him with. Hopefully he does not lose them while dancing in celebration of this title!
