It's kinda top heavy.

Serena will have to face everyone including the kitchen sink!
;)

But, the bottom half ain't no breeze either, Vika will probably face Sabine in the quarters and then Angie in the semis. JJ should be seeing Angie right before that...

As for the mentioned kitchen sink, Serena will get Petko in the second, Caro in the quarters and surviving all of that, there will be Masha and then either Sabine or Vika, which is the kitchen sink...

Now, here are some valid questions.
Can Caro get past Lil' Domi? the winner should be battle tested for Serena...
How long will the match between Franny and JJ take? 2 hours, or three?
Who will withdraw first? Will it be Masha? Vika? May be Serena?
And then this is the most important question...
Who will win?

Seems to me,
We need a poll and a fresh thread, this was a starter thread anyway. It will be nice to have a new poll/thread once the final draw is decided including the qualifiers.

We also need a thread for Shenzhen! Who will start that?

PEtrokic, Woz, Cibulkova and Maria are everything and the kitchen sink?!

Refresh my mirror, what is Serena combined record against those players?

With the exception of Maria none is consistent enough.

No, the kitchen sink would be Vika or Sabine, that comes at the end. Remember, it's everything and then the kitchen sink!
:)

Sorry buddy, this is just about all the tour can throw!
But then this just a warm-up, in a couple of weeks, the sink will get much deeper!

Maria may be the most consistent but she has the worst record against Serena, Caro and Domi have better chance IMO anyway.

Poor Maria, I kind of feel for her. I saw photos of her practicing in Brisbane, and between hitting balls, she was having her shoulder massaged. Hopefully that old shoulder won't fall off :snigger With her limitations she will have a tough time going deep at the AO (and she needs to get to the semis not to lose points) and probably defending her IW's title. How long will she be able to stay in the top ten with all the fit ladies aiming for the top. :lolz: I don't think this will be a good year for her.

I kinda feel for persons who're taking events in advance and - completely unnecessary - predict all kinda doomsdays scenarios for Maria Sharapova under the disguise that they feel sorry whereas they in fact are hoping that their predictions will come true - Tell me rugged - what has Masha ever done to you to deserve your utterly unsympathetic and condescending comments and snickers?

Let me return the favor: I feel sorry for a person who is so overly sensitive when anyone says anything about Maria that is short of gloating about her virtues. Isn't that the issue that caused you so many problems with other posters on the tennis.com boards? So now you're here pretending to only want people to be kind to one another. Yeah! Maybe you should write Maria a letter and tell her if she wants to be thought of better, stop running her mouth about the situation that occurred between her and Serena months ago. She can't seem to let it go. And tell her please don't use the excuse that reporters keep asking her about it. She can simply say "no comment." I am just happy that Serena and Maria landed on the same side of the draw at Brisbane. They can work out any unresolved issues on court. I would bet everything I have that Serena is so happy to be seeing Maria so early in Brisbane.

The reality is that these players (the kitchen sink) could be a challenge for many, but when you compare their head to heads with Serena, they are merely a warm-up (sort of like a snack) ::violins:

I read an article that said Vika had been struggling with her fitness (her statement), so the result of the bottom of the draw probably depends on where she is with that. Hopefully she is close to where she needs to be.

Pulling out:

Of the top seeds, Maria is most likely to pull out. She is just beginning to test her shoulder playing real matches, so it is all about how well it stands up. And she has no points to defend. She can play a couple of matches and then drop out to go fine tune things.

Serena has points to defend and she wants to defend the title. However, because she has so many ranking points - losing some of those is a drop in the bucket. Not inconceivable that she could drop out, but less likely than the rest.

Caro can't win a set off Serena nowadays, being as Serena can outsteady her for long rallies nowadays, and Domi has got to hopw Serena has a really bad day to have a chance.

As for the "sink" the only player who should be in the "sink" argument is Vika, not Sabine.

Heck, one win over Serena and now ur elevating her to Vika status when facing Rena? She more erratic than Domi and Woz.

Or maybe not. The WTA Twitter account just reported, 9 minutes ago, that Caro withdrew from Brisbane with a right shoulder injury.
