Hi all,
Tennis Frontier applied for credentials to cover this event, today was the day our application was approved. Tennis Frontier correspondent(that's me) will be covering this entire event for you readers of our forums.

As you may know, this is a mixed event. ATP has 500 pointer and WTA has 280 pointer. I will cover both genders. Citiopen starts July 26th and ends August 3rd.

As for early news, the following players have signed to participate:

ATP(partial list):
Milos Raonic(CAN)--John Isner(USA)--Kei Nishikori(JPN)--Grigor Dimitrov(BUL)--Richard Gasquet(FRA)

WTA(partial list):
Genie Bouchard(CAN)--Sloane Stephens(USA)--Sveta Kuznetsova(RUS)--Alize Cornet(FRA)--Madison Keys(USA)

Since this event is close to me, I am planning to cover few sessions, the finals and semis are already planned, but we are still in planning stages to cover other days.

I want to make this an interactive coverage, I like to have our readers involved.
Feel free to ask me what you want me to cover, as a reporter, I am allowed to attend after-match-press-interviews and ask questions. We are also allowed to request 1 on 1 interview with any player.
We are also planning separate threads for ATP and WTA forums once we get closer to the start of the tournament. I will also take plenty of images to post in those future threads.

Suggestions?

del potro the 2013 singles champion obviously won't be there as he is still working his way back to fitness.

grigor or raonic will clearly be looking to win the title here. more chance than burdych anyhoo.

Citiopen 2014 Press release

WASHINGTON — Eugenie Bouchard has withdrawn from the 2014 Citi Open® tournament citing medical reasons.

WTA officials informed tournament officials today that Eugenie was requesting a medical withdrawal. No particular injury was specified.

“It goes without saying that we would have loved to see Genie play for our fans, but first and foremost, we wish her a speedy recovery,” said Jeff Newman, tournament director. “As always, the tournament has never been about one particular player but the strength and depth of the fields as a whole. Having five top ten players in the draws will make for an exciting week of world-class tennis.”

Citiopen 2014 Withdrawals

CITI OPEN: Bouchard's Statement on Tournament Withdrawal

WASHINGTON — Eugenie Bouchard has withdrawn from the Citi Open® tournament due to a right knee injury. Below is her statement:

"Unfortunately, I must withdraw from the Citi Open this year. I am going to miss playing for all my wonderful fans. It is a great tournament and I look forward to coming back next year."

Prior to the withdrawal, Bouchard’s appearance would have been her fourth in Washington, where she reached the doubles women’s finals last year with partner Taylor Townsend. Wimbledon semifinalist Lucie Safarova will now take the WTA player field’s top seed in this year’s tournament.

GAEL MONFILS WITHDRAWS FROM CITI OPEN® TOURNAMENT FOR KNEE INJURY

WASHINGTON — Gael Monfils, the No. 23 ranked player on the ATP World Tour, has withdrawn from the Citi Open® Tournament because of a knee injury, which also caused him to withdraw from the Atlanta tournament earlier this week.

Even with Monfils out, the strong Citi Open® Tournament men's field still has eight of the top 25 players in the ATP World Tour. Main draw play begins Monday, July 28, at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park.
