Oddly enough, I thought her first title would be on clay. I think if she is going to win a slam it will probably come at the French Open first. Madison will probably excel at Wimbledon and on hard courts.

lots of youngsters have won small events and that does not translate into a slam.Svitolina has more titles than Scone..Donna Vekic a younger player who has title.Watson,Coco,Oudin,Garcia,Pvlyuchenkova,Genie,Giorgi,Schemedolova,Gasparayn,Riske...the list is endless..she is late to the party.
Pliskova shows more promise than Scone who got lucky in a depleted field..

Congrats Sloane. Long overdue and hopefully the first of many, many titles. Hopefully her mentality and attitude have finally drawn level with her talent, athleticism and potential

She was in a field reflective of her ranking Tossip. It was a good field for a smaller tournament. I didn't say she would win a slam, but I noted if she were to win one it would probably be the French as her results have been consistent there. So many people are salty over her.

Unlike for Men (where it is 500), is not it true that Washington DC is the lowest possible level of WTA tourneys? Just asking.

I think of all the young Americans Oudin showed mental toughness at a young age and if it was not for health problems she is the most accomplished. She won a grandslam in doubles and has a title from Birmingham.

Found this on Wiki:

The current tournament structure was introduced in 2009. Premier Tournaments replaced the previous Tier I and Tier II events, and International Tournaments replaced Tier III and IV events.
1. Grand Slam tournaments (4)
2. Year-ending championships (WTA Tour Championships)
3. Premier tournaments:
a. Premier Mandatory: Four combined tournaments with male professional players, with U.S.$5.4 million in equal prize money for men and women (increased from $4.5 million in 2013). These tournaments are held in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing.
Premier Five: Five $2 million events in Doha/Dubai, Rome, Montreal/Toronto, Cincinnati, and Wuhan.
b. Premier: Twelve events with prize money from U.S.$710,000 to U.S.$2 million.
4. International tournaments: There are 32 tournaments, with prize money for all except four events at U.S.$250,000. The exceptions are the Shenzhen Open, the Monterrey Open and the Korea Open, each with prize money of U.S.$500,000, and the year-ending Garanti Koza Tournament of Champions in Sofia, which has prize money of U.S.$750,000.
5. WTA 125k Series (since 2012): There are seven tournaments (two in China, one in Chinese Taipei, one in France, one in Thailand, one in Israel and one in United States), with prize money for every event at U.S.$125,000.

Washington D. C. is basically a 250 if we go by ATP standards.

Would be nice if the ATP and WTA would just synchronize their tournament system. Make it easier for everyone, especially the casual fans.

Jankovic played in one of those 125,000 dollar tournaments a couple weeks ago I think. I glanced at the draw and it was Jankovic and about a million Chinese there but that was about it. Hardly got any mention anywhere.

Yes she did! 5 straight set matches for an easy win. She must have gotten a nice appearance fee or something.
