With this win, Tsitsipas enters the Top 5 rankings for the first time of his career. Now, he will have a meeting with Kyrgios for 1st time ever. I hope the match will be a great one!

Pretty sad that he is in the top 5 with basically 1 SF at a major and then 2 finals at MS events. It truly doesn't take much right now.

I've only been nipping in and out, but rather fascinating match. All Nick in the first. Bad Nick in the 2nd. Let's see how the 3rd plays out.

Tsitsipas and the shoes...too much!
Wtf..Tits sends his shoe to his daddy to unlace ..if Nadal did that this board would be levied..plus Nick takes the shoes that was given to the ball kids to hand delivered to Tits..If it was Ralphy, Front and a lot on this board would bitch unceremoniously..

Why is that sad? Davydenko was once 3 in the world, and I can't remember what his biggest title was, but they weren't much.

See, this is why Nicky is entertaining to watch. He can go dark in a hurry and play lights out in the same game.

Tsitsipas has broken another shoelace. @brokenshoelace: Who knew you were going to predict the future of tennis and his Achilles heel/shoe? There has to be a Greek myth equivalent.

Exactly. He won a few masters, but all it takes is consistency, when the slams are grabbed by only 2 guys.
Ferrer won even less than Davy and was 3 for a while too.

He won YEC and a few MS titles. Though I think he was #3 in 2006 and probably had much better slam results than Tsitsipas and also I think he won an MS that year. I like Tsitsipas and all but it is telling that with his results he gets to #5.

That's a career assessment on Davy, and Stefanos is 20-21. Tsitsipas has gotten there on points, so deserved. Davydenko was a guy that kept his ranking up by playing random tournaments that no elite players played. I don't think it's fair to compare the two, esp. total career v. early doors.

I'm just talking about how little it takes to reach a high rank on the ATP currently. Which just points to the fact ALL players aside from top 3 lack any kind of consistency.
