Roger has to continue coming into the net as far as I'm concerned! If he makes it through, he'll need to employ that tactic against Nadal; if they both make the next round anyway!

Exactly, it's a good tactic. By the way, I read reports that Cinci is playing slower than Montreal. I always thought Cinci was the fastest of the HC MS tourneys...

At 5-5 30-0, both guys were at the net battling... I miss the days when that was a regular occurrence in singles. :(

:nono The "Sandman" keeps dumping in the paint. Humidity in Cinci will also slow things down.

Interesting, I noticed that Del Po and Berdych are right on Fed's heels and if they have a great summer and fall, they can potentially pass Roger in the rankings.

Federer's growling into gear. Mark Petchy just described Haas in the 2nd as a "polite choke." Story of his life, but against that, Roger is beginning to find a bit of spite in his shots, playing with some pride and swinging.

I think he'll step it up in the 3rd and take it handily...

It's supposed to be the fastest hardcourt on tour. That'd be weird if it slowed down that much even due to humidity.

i wouldnt say the story of his life. he played pretty well when fed won RG in 09. he beat djoker recently. hes had some good wins. of course he could have done better. but yea this match might be a choke if he loses

He choked that match! :laydownlaughing

One good backhand from Federer in the 3rd set and Tommy's resistance vanished. RG 2009 isn't a good example of Strong Man Tommy Haas!

It was hilarious - up two sets, 4-3 ahead in the 3rd, 30-40 on Roger's serve, and...kaput! He vanished into smoke. Won 2 more games for his troubles.

Roger is beginning to find some range here, but it's patchy. He's mixing the good with the awful far too often. Anyone noticing any effect of the bad back?
